At the end of November I will be celebrating my 50th birthday! I have nothing planned although I have saved up some money I was given for cat sitting for a friend plus some my husband and son's have clubbed together and have bought a Kindle.

I bought it early because I had a strange phone call from my sister-in-law telling me to keep the 8th - 10th November free. I asked her why and she said all that I needed to know was that I was going away and needed to do nothing but pack a bag! I tried to get her to tell me (I don't like surprises) but she would tell me nothing!

I then rang my sister thinking it was my sister-in-law and my brother who were taking me away but my sister just laughed and said it was her idea! She wouldn't tell me anything either so I am still in the dark.

I tell you it is a conspiracy! :roflmao:

I am terrified and excited all at once. This is way out of my comfort zone as I don't like travel of any kind and I don't like being out of control.

Where will it be? It has to be in the UK as I don't have a passport but it could be anywhere. Perhaps it is a caravan, perhaps a log cabin? Perhaps a cottage or a hotel?

I have no idea but I'll keep you all posted!

That sounds lovely, Cath. :) I do understand about the not knowing though. Whenever I have gotten a surprise like this, I did enjoy it when I knew it, e.g. got to the place or the surprise party, after the initial overwhelming part.

I find it a wonderful thing and hope you will enjoy what your sister has come up with. :)

How exciting! I hate surprises too and have warned people not to do that on my birthday. But, maybe, I would like this. Not thinking of the unknown is a good thing, in my book. Perhaps thinking of over the years the cool things you've done with your sister will help relieve some of the unknown.

Have a great time! Can't wait to hear what they come up with.

@Britt.f7 She won't have planned anything nasty that is for sure so I will try to think of all the good things - thank you. x

@KP the nut Letting go of control is not easy but I guess I have no option - I keep telling myself that life is about fun and I'm going to have as much as possible! A few glasses of wine would be nice while I am not driving!

Here are a few Ideas myself and sons have come up with:

The local psychiatric hospital - my sister says it isn't this because I've tried them all and they've given up on me! :D (Probably true).
A stowaway on a cruise (as I have no passport). Or a short UK cruise (Don't think so - I'm sea sick:sick:).
A strip club! Now that would be a laugh!
:roflmao:

I don't think you have anything to worry about, as they are loved ones and would only want what is best for you. If it were me, I'd love to be taken to a little peaceful lake, staying in a camp there that has a fireplace and a good view of the lake from an enclosed porch. Also some lawn chairs for when it is warm weather! Oh, and then a nice Italian restaurant! Oh yummy....
