Sinister Epidemic

I was at the hospital they mentioned in the article. A lot of my unit went through there in 2010, a lot of them got f*cked over by that hospital. A lot of them filed complaints and I know a US Senator went up for bat for a few of em.

Disgusting...this confirms some of the stuff we speak about in group, on the edges of this article

I recently heard a 'Nam vet say that things are better for returning vets today. I have issues with that. This proves it.

In some ways, today, it's worse. Today there's all this rhetoric about that's being done and set up for vets. It's all just bullshit to placate the public into thinking something is better than it is.

I have a friend from my PTSD group, an Army Captain, 16+years in service. He was a company commander, I believe, in Iraq. He worked with the Iraqi Army training them and going on ops. He's out now. Is there a job for him. NO. Is there someone 'really' helping him get one, NO. And the companies he's applied to don't want to start him at the level he should be. If there is anyone that has the talent, ability, intelligence to do a great job I don't know who else it would be. And, of course he's not alone in his predicament.

All this stuff doesn't bode well for an all volunteer military. What we need most at this time is people that will cut to the chase and get the job done. Not more talking heads. As always, we're loosing the best and the brightest that this country has to offer.

The Military Medical System here in Canada isn't much better. Veteran's Affairs seems to be abit more switched on though. Shame you have to get out before anyone cares.

That's what got me in trouble, Jar. I started saying, "hey, you guys aren't treating the new guys any better than you treated us" (which is always interpreted as being negative) and they didn't like hearing that. So, instead of trying to do something about it, they went after me.

No one wants to discuss anything. It's "beat up on him, he'll shut up".

The "stand down" kinda sealed the deal. Oh, they want to sign them up, so they can ask for a budget increase but there ain't anyone in the trenches to serve that many.

I can't get the young guys in to talk to me, I guess because of my PTSD label. Worried it might rub off.

I made an off the cuff remark in the midst of flying boots and sleeping bags and such getting ready for the stand down...I said, "Ain't anybody gonna help us...but us".

It's getting more and more darkly true.

I passed on your adivce in group Sarg with a guy going in for his initial medical appts for his Med Board, to not go into the VA with hostility and to try an build rapport with them despite your frustration. Thanks!

It's "beat up on him, he'll shut up".

Yeah, I see that too. It's been tried on me as well. They usually find out in about 30 seconds that that's not going to fly. Then I"m branded as the 'bully' type because I have to stand up for myself. Amazing how that works.
