So you know I'm not dismissing additional smilies, developers are nearing a completion on a really intuitive smilie interface to be added, and the below images show you some current design on options their looking at.

You get the idea... but its already done and can be used, but not final, so its best that I don't install it until they have a more final solution that is secure, robust and works without issue.

It is in development... could be weeks yet. I would aim for weeks, and if it comes sooner, then yeh! I could install a development version, but I don't feel that is within the best interest of the site at this point...

The smilies don't come with it, its about the location and method to have them, then what you can do with them. Some forum want hundreds, thousands of smilies for choice... some only have a handful.

I can see the requirement on this specific forum, being primarily female based, thus artistic / emoticons usually appeal to women based forums... so it will get installed and CB sort out what she wants to put in it.

Once you really upload a smilie, its difficult to remove it otherwise you end up with conversations everywhere with :emoticon code: between characters... [DLMURL]http://sexabuse.ptsdforum.org/community/help/smilies[/DLMURL]

This has caught my eye. Do we really have a tendency to use more emoticons than males? (I'm not attacking, I'm just curious)

This is a massive generalisation, but I can't imagine that when Anthony started his Combat forum, that many of the members there were begging him to add a 'hug' smiley ;)

Exactly... its not a blanket statement, but females are more into such things than males.

Its like if you run a kids forum, you want to be allowing picture signatures, smilies, bright stuff, flashing, animated avatars, everything that moves... because kids are into it, where animated avatars are as a majority frustrating to adults.

Actually, just thinking about how badly I wanted a mood - which has a smiley in it - should be an answer to my question... :)

Its a demographics thing... not a blanket statement. Its like trying to market tampons to a group of males... your not going to be real successful... but even though females use tampons, some use pads, some use this brand, that brand, etc... but the majority use tampons vs. pads. Demographics... and they're pretty accurate usually.

Put moods onto combat PTSD forum and nobody would really care for them.
