News Snipers In Dallas.

Near the end of a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest, several snipers opened fire on the police from elevated cover.
As I write this, three suspects are in custody, a fourth killed himself, 5 officers are dead, more wounded and some in critical condition.
One of the protesters was also hit.

I'm just horrified.

@Riot When the person come to relieve me at the end of my shift, told me about this. Those were my exact words. This is such a horrific thing to happen.

The snipers are saying there are bombs spread throughout and to expect more police shootings. It sounds that at least two are professionals. There are no links between this shooting and the killing of Philando Castile, a black man shot four time by a police officer in MN. He was pulled over for a busted taillight, told the officer he had a concealed weapon and he was reaching into in pocket for his wallet. The officer shot him four times with his girlfriend and young child in the car. The girlfriend recorded everything Live on Facebook. A few hours later, the snipers start shooting in Dallas.

Shaking in fear.

I am sad about this event, and the another recent event.

Rather than listening to or reading the news again, I will hold all of those affected in a prayer of healing, and I will continue to sign petitions for gun control and I will continue to sign petitions asking our policemen to be accountable.

I was watching Trevor Noah when hubby came up to bed and told me to turn on MSNBC. Horrific! Unbelievable. I couldn't sleep until it was resolved. Finally, at 3:30 a.m. they sent in a robot bomb and it was over. And how tragically ironic that the Dallas PD has an excellent reputation for their relationship with the community. They were all having a nice cordial time with the demonstrators, posing for photos with them, etc. And then for someone to target them -- unconscionable.

I also am in awe of how Diamond Reynolds documented that horrible shooting and murder of her fiancee for NO GOOD REASON with her little girl in the back seat even. She had an incredible presence of mind to do that! This has been happening to black people for forever. It's only now that so many people have cameras on their phones and so many manage to document these incidents that the rest of us see what actually happens.

I am stepping up my prayers for people of color and police officers everywhere.

Personally I'm getting a bit unsettled that I am familiar with the areas, many or can play 6 degrees of separation with the attacks (Boston, San Bernadino, Orlando, Dallas... Baton Rogue, 9/11... more if I would pause to consider I suppose). It affects my sense of safety however, I have a rather large "bubble" of safety... so rational mind has to kick in. It is not then, it is now... I am not there now.

Just disturbed. I'll live.
