@Casey_03 At this point I just want to ask that you try and stay calm. The bird, cat and your baby all sense that you are upset. Throwing a towel over the bird, once located, is your only option right now. You just need to find the bird, and then put or throw a towel over it.

Hang in there...

I've tried throwing a towel over it more than a dozen times now. I do not have time to keep doing this, this is literally jeopardizing all my plans. At this point I am very close to just throwing pesticide in there and then paying someone to find and dispose of the body. It is impossible to stay calm when everything I need to do in order to move in a couple days time depends on me getting this bird out. I cannot clean the room in preparation for handing the keys back to the landlord until the bird is gone .... I cannot accommodate my sister, who arrives in just a couple hours, until the bird is gone. And if I cannot accommodate her here in my home, there goes all my remaining money and the trip is off. Or at the very least, postponed. Again. This one little bird, poor and wounded as he may be, is threatening to derail a major relocation that I cannot afford to have derailed.

Yeah, the ladle part doesn't fit under the furniture (it's very low). But I'm able to push a stick in there and move it around to try to force the bird out. The problem seems to be that he's crawling up into the furniture (it's an old couch that has holes in the bottom and a few dressers that have openings at the bottom). I called an animal rescue place but they said they can't send anybody untl tomorrow afternoon, at the earliest.

You could try taping a straw or something similar to a stick. Tie a piece of string to the stick, feed the string through the straw, so you have a loop at the end.
Get the loop around the bird, pull the string, pull snared bird out.

Your sister is being ridiculous, there must be somewhere in your home that you could make up a bed on the floor for one night, or she could sleep on the sofa, or in the chair or somewhere - it's one night and if she didn't bring money or cards (when she's helping you move, and crises are likely to happen and need last minute money) and you can't afford to pay for somewhere else (which you can't, your saving are for your move), then you'll both need to rough it a bit. Could you not both sleep in the same bed for one night?

My cat brings in birds from time to time - they make an almighty mess, so I get no one wanting to sleep in the same room (though I'd probscky just clean up the feathers and let it do its thing if it can't fly).

I paid for the cheapest hotel I could find. i myself sleep on a small couch, so there was no room for her to sleep next to me, and barely any room on the floor unless she were to sleep with her head literally in the cat litter box. Some animal rescue people came and said they think the bird crawled up into my couch and died. I had to pay them to tell me that. Then they told me the only way they think it's possible to get the birdout is to tear off the upholstery, which will require me to pay the landlord to re-upholster the couch. It's not looking good. That's most of the money I had right there.

This is seriously bad news. Just maybe this is it and everything will go fine afterwards. I would tell the landlord that a bird got in and got trapped. Maybe the landlord can do something immediately before decomposed bird parts start to ruin sofa. Understand your frustration with everything. Please take a deep breath. All I can hope is the bird is some type of omen, like pay attention the next couple of months to what's happening around you. There is some strange spiritual stuff with birds and me. And l feel like a complete fool telling you that. :)

Wow this was all horrible trouble from just a little bird. But I hope if you remember this now you realize this whole thing which seemed like such a big deal really wasn't. I might be wrong, but I don't think it was. We assign huge importance to little things in our lives sometimes and get ourselves lost in our trouble- and sometimes thats just how it works- but looking back they might not seem so terrible.

If this actually was something that led to a bunch of other troubles then ignore everything I just said, I hope you're doing okay now though!
