I'm so bummed. Lorazepam isn't long enough acting for my anxiety, and Clonazepam gives me terrible headaches. So, finally, my provider had me try Valium/diazepam; instead of making me relaxed, it made me anxious, very anxious, on a low dose. My provider had not seen this.(My sensitivity never fails to surprise me.)
I called the pharmacist who had been helpful to me with SSRIs; 3% of adults get therapeutic responses from pediatric doses of SSRI, and an adult dose (to these 3% folks), causes strong side effects.
Asking the pharmacist about my experience with Diazepam/Valium, he told me two things. First, he validated my experience as he found my side effects listed in the package insert for diazepam.
The second thing the pharmacist told me, blew me away, like when someone aptly named a dynamic so precisely, it is like a good analyst, or a great opera singer who's resonant tones shatter the glass. Describing why some people get anxious on diazepam, he said, "as it relaxes a person, it REVEALS underlying causes/stresses."
(Get out of town!!! You mean it is like how hypnotherapy relaxed me enough to talk about an event that I clearly remembered, but had never spoken about?)
I felt so angry and sad at the same time! #:mad:, :cry::cry::cry:. Is there no end to the layers?
My abuse was so young and so severe, most people know this to likely be true for me.:mad::mad::banghead::cry::cry:. I do not have long enough to work everything out, and if the level of anxiety that diazepam revealed, I have only hit the tip of the iceberg-doing as much diligent work as the most diligent sufferers.
I guess I will need to talk to my provider and pharmacist about Seraquel
I would be soothed to know, has anyone else experienced this, with Valium?
