Spring Time

I am a lover of spring time. I love the way the outside world smells after the snow melts, the smell of the flowers and just the general feeling you get during the spring. I love seeing the robins hopping around on the ground searching for those tasty worms after a spring shower. I love the excitement my children have when they can finally use their sidewalk chalk. Plus being a lucky one I don't have allergies until fall.

I also hate spring. One day it is so hot outside you are thinking about turning on the air conditioning and the next it's so cold you have to turn the heat back on. Like today I am actually wrapped up in a blanket to keep the chill away. Something like 3 days ago I was outside just standing still and sweating.

What are some of the things you like and don't like about spring?

Being someone who also experiences all four seasons, I am grateful for spring after long cold winters. I love the first flowers that come up, and the grills and patio furniture that are on display at stores, to let you know summer is coming. I do experience allergies, so it's not so fun for me in that respect, and I'm also not a big fan of the rain and mud.

The general feeling, as you said. Sun. Thunderstorms. The crazy weather. The outdoor events. The trails, once they've dried up. And these guys.

I was sitting in the sun for half an hour this afternoon, watching them behind that tree. They allowed me to get close. The fawns were grooming each other.

Then some fool let his dog loose into the woods and the herd split up. So I tracked him down on the trail and photographed him. He made a break for the parking lot. I had a good jog. I took a shot of the man, his dog, and his license plate. That's one thing I don't like about spring. Too many irresponsible people flocking to the bike trails and nature reserves.

Hi Popeye, I love spring too. I love the colors, the green of the trees and the grass. The colors of all my daffodils and tulips that managed to withstand the freezing temperatures all winter long. I look forward to seeing them blossom and in a metaphoric type of way - I think of my own life. If that tiny bulb can survive the freezing and harsh conditions and still blossom when it turns warm, then maybe as I heal and I work through the harsh conditions of my life, I too will blossom. Gardening is really enjoyable. I also love watching the robins hopping around and seeing the kids and neighbors out and about, walking around. I have more energy in the warm air and feel more alive this time of year. I couldn't have come soon enough. This winter was getting really rough.

I've been thinking about getting some new bird feeders to see the tiny finches come around.

Spring time here to in the UK, although looking out of the window this morning its only my beautiful flowering cherry tree that reminds me of that. The sky is grey, its windy & raining & I don't think I'll be spending the day gardening as planned. Maybe the sun will shine later!
Either way I've just switched my hot tub on so I'm going to listen to the birds while I soak!

Oh cat you lucky thing. A Hot Tub, what a wonderful way to spend your Sunday, listening to the birds while soaking in a hot tub, ahh bliss.

Be there in about 3 hours LOL

It certainly is, my psychologist suggested I try one to help with relaxation, now I can't stay out of it!

You'd be very welcome to use it anytime, Amethist

Cat, Can I have the number of that psychologist? I'd definitely like to make an appointment!

RJ, you'd love the pics from the cam we leave on the tree all spring. It catches the big fat bear waddling through every year after he wakes up, turkey hens looking for somewhere on the hill back here to nest, raccoons stealing whatever they can from the neighbors trash, deer by the dozen and the Great Blue Heron who is only picturesque if he's not pillaging all the dam trout from the pond we stocked.

Spring means the Peeper Frogs start yelling, the ferns uncurl behind the house, the creek is roaring with high water and the bluebirds move back in to their home from last year.
