Hey All!
Just thought I'd stop in "for reals". I have been cruising the site regularly, but decided to do it without logging in. I realized I needed to step back a bit and just observe the forum in its wild state for a while.
Today however, is the anniversary of the loss of my Po-Dog, and I just got back from the VA for a resupply of meds. (turned in my Zoloft refill in the mail drop box, had a hunk of metal removed from my jaw, and was ordered to go home, eat some vicodin and actually relax and enjoy myself.
I still miss Po-dog pretty bad, but his "repwacment", "Carlos the Tank" Warpug, has made life a lot easier. He is a total jack ass, black as night and unruly as hell. Kind of like my soul, if there is such a thing... He wears doggles and a jolly roger neckerchief when we cruise the BeazleBug Mark 2 Mod 4 to car shows.
I am posed to graduate from school this september (Switched majors to Freshwater Aquatic Ecology from Biochem!). I am still working at that godforsaken factory too. I'm a big fish again too. After building them a fully functional maintenance department from scratch, getting the plant 99.9% operational, reducing accidents and increasing over-all safety, I (and them) are posed to make me the corporate maintenance engineer. I will have to build maintenance departments at our five other plants, handle EPA and OSHA compliance and a tonne of other maintenance shithead related stuff. I still hate working in factories, and absolutely detest the company and most of its employees, but They have removed my leash and essentially made my word law. I gotta admit, I kinda like the power and responsibility, even though I plan to leave as soon as I graduate.
yeah, I had them put me back on Zoloft. Doing much much better than I was a few years back, but had to swallow my pride and admit that the zoloft makes keeping the beast in check a metric shit tonne easier. I am proud to say that much of what I learned here, or was inspired to learn and research here has been an immense help. Shit, most mornings I wake up and feel like I did pre-navy!
my son has returned home and moved back in. he is too old for me to be a father, but I sure as shit can be his friend. it is f*cking awesome to have him around. He got himself hired on at the plant I work at, along with my soon to be son-in-law. (In both cases deeply against my wishes, but hey, kids will be kids, eh?) This has proven to be brilliant, as they are both amazingly good employees and part of my maintenance minions team. (Again, against my wishes, but you can't tell these kids shit these days...)
I have managed to convince the company to quit hiring through temp agencies for permanent employees and only hire vets, reserves, and guard. It has been astounding how well it worked once I bullied them into doing this.
Even better, I was authorized to hand pick my Maintenance Minions Team. I designed and wrote a Navy style testing and qualification system. Everyone called me crazy at first, but we now have 24 hour support from a six man crew of veterans and military dependents led by yours truly that is so efficient and skilled that even the owners are impressed. No favorites there either, even my family members had to pass that shit to even be considered.
So our crack squad of workin' fool technicians handles every aspect of emergency and preventative maintenance for the company. Everything from fleet and forktrucks to machine installs, and all the shit in between. There is myself, the damaged Squid, A retired Gulf War MARFOR Recon guy, my son, my son-in law, A navy HT, and army motorpool mechanic, and an Air Force HazMat Specialist type. Yeah, I'm bragging. I am truly honored to have built something like this from scratch
Later All!
