Locked temporarily for a change in software.
Today I found out that Internet Brands, the owner of Vbulletin software, has now been sold. Vbulletin was purchase by Internet Brands around 2007 and gone through some very shaky periods. The company, IB, basically floated itself to a high point at which they have just sold to a private equity firm for over $650 million. The problem is that most VB developers and staff ended up leaving the company because of all the internal corporate nonsense, the direction they have taken the software, etc... many not so good reasons.
The lead developers went off and created a new forum only platform which they finally announced to be releasing in just over a week. This forum software is very new, it is beta, but it works better than what VB software does. Nothing like using VB... and I wanted to use it on the SSA site, but their initial estimates of release wasn't until next year. Now they are releasing it... I have locked up the site and will change it over to that software in a week or two.
I am sorry for the stuff around, but I feel this is a far better solution for that project than using VB which I suspect may go down the drain in the coming years... so I am beginning to now weigh my own options. As this new software is just that... new, it doesn't have blogs or CMS, etc... but it will as the product moves forward. It is faster than VB software, lighter, cleaner and more polished all round for user and admin experience.
Once it is release I will buy a license and convert the little there over to the new software, some may be lost... hopefully not though, as I will recreate the existing few accounts and you will just have to retrieve a new password for your account.
I have locked it so that work in recreating existing content doesn't continue to grow or worse, if content gets lost, people aren't wasting their time. So it will be back in just over a week, fingers crossed, and I should be able to give you an exact date soon.
