Survived Deposition

I think they are usually pretty careful to not attack or invade those with clout. They give em an IQ test so they are in the normal range-many go into this field because they have nothing else going for them. There is a fine line between cops and criminals as far as personality goes.

I know. My son pointed out that only people that actually need to feel power over others will bully. I have knows at least three women who were married to police officers in Chicago and got beaten up all the time but if they called the cops, they refused to make a report of would give a citation to the woman. I know that cops have a real high incidence of spousal abuse.

They also abuse those with mental illness and the homeless at high rates. Who is more vulnerable?? I am glad to be seeing this for what it is. There was a time that it was all about what happened to me. At this point, after learning of so many abuses, it has litttle or nothing to do with me. It wasnt personal, I was just an easy target.

All right! Hope this isn't false hope but the attorney filed a summary judgement. I have been doing research on the internet and unless the judge looks at the evidence and there is absolutely no question in his mind that I have no case, he can't dismiss my case. As far as I know he hasn't and the thing is that no matter what lies and lost evidence, there are still photos and the ER report after it happened. There is also inconsitency. The police stated at their deposition (all three had different horrifying accounts of how they were attacked! :p by a woman who was not even half their size??). Well, any judge with half a brain would see the initial reports that stated only passive resistance and I was never charged with assaulting an officer. All three had totally different stories. We'll see. I read Froggie's account and it took her 9 years!! Well, maybe I should keep at this darn thing. It has affected me deeply though and I feel that I haven't been able to be there for anyone the past three years. It's taken a heavy toll.

My lawyer was going to sue me for additional administrative costs because he dismissed the suit. I wrote him a letter telling him that he didn't inform me of the offer that the insurance company made at the beginning of the lawsuit. He adamantly denied it but agreed to stop contacting me. The weird thing is that I never signed anything to say that I dropped the lawsuit. This whole legal thing doesn't seem legal to me.

I'd find some evidence of the offer, just to have for your own records. It sounds like he's maybe a nice guy but it also sounds like he will try to recoup what he feels are his 'losses'. Did he not prepare a paper saying the suit is dropped? That does seem a little irregular and you'd think the other side would really, REALLY insist on this, right?

You know, there are attorneys out there who will take cases on a 'I'll get paid only if I win' basis. Maybe you should contact one and see if they would like to take on the entire mess, with the understanding that you're DONE now-what's there is there, you know? If you never signed anything dropping the whole thing-wierd, huh? This is ridiculous and needs to be wrapped the heck up for you one way or the other.

Hey Gloria, I just finished reading this thread and wanted to tell you how much I admire you. You've been to hell and back, yet you're still here, AND you're still fighting for what you believe in. It must be hard knowing you can't trust the police, but you've remained strong and believed in yourself through it all, even when it seemed no one else did. As for being a baby, you are nothing close to a baby... I would say determined, strong, and resolute better describe you.

It's been months since my lawyer dismissed the case. I look back and wish that I hadn't lost three years to the fight and if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't get involved in this. If I had any idea that instead of being the victim, I would become the accused. I was told that the police would get nasty but wasn't because I never even got traffic tickets. If I had any idea that they would get my mental health records and repeatedly ask me over and over things that triggered me trying to break me and smirking and laughing at me, I would never have done it.

People say that those police will think twice before they beat up an innocent person again. I don't see it like that. I think that three large police officers could tackle a tiny woman and get away with it so I think they will be worst now. I bet they went out to drink and celebrate. I refuse to cross the state line and go to Wisconsin and I live very close to the border.

But amazingly, I think God likes me. Because I lost so much money on legal fees and everything - about $10,000 but God is helping me save money and become secure. Little miracles happened and I got a new car and my finances completely changed for the better right after the lawsuit was over. So maybe God wanted me to do this. I hate to say this but it is so ironic that one of the guys that said he would lie to discredit me died suddenly a week before testifying. That was odd? This whole thing is over and now I am starting a new life. That's how I look at it now. It's over and now I can start a new life and I have no contact with my lawyer or ex-boyfriend. I actually think my ex might have gone to jail for bancruptcy fraud. I never see him anymore and he used to tail-gate me and drive near my house all the time. That would be too good to be true.

Gloria- I am not a real faithful person but I am trying. Everything does happen for a reason. If you remember, I was unable to pursue the lawsuit against the officer who assaulted me. Sometimes, occassionally, I get mad about the outcome, that I cannot sleep and he is out doing his thing, and harming others in the name of the law.

Today a local attorney called me. He said that he is representing the ex girlfriend of the cop that assaulted me. He had her arrested by fellow blue boys after he followed her.Not only do they want the charges against her dismissed, they want him to stop being in law enforcement forever. I gave him all he asked for. Then I discovered from a friend that the force took his gun and badge until he completed a mental evaluation. As it turned out, it was due to accumulate charges. That means that every one of our voices were important. It may seem small for the price I payed, as it is, but it is each of our experiences that will make a difference when we are persistant. It is priceless as it is not on my dollar. You can never profit against law enforcement. (not that it was my goal) but getting expenses back would be nice, like th $500 ambulance bill. The city can sue me, as I will move money from bank to bank before I give them a dime for injuries I incurred as a result of the city abuse.

My gut tells me that this is the end for this bastard. He is an abuser of women and carries it into the police force, and everyone has known it for a long time. His blue mates must not be covering for him any longer. So sorry Will Ward of Wheeling WV. I will testify against him and so will my daughter who watched him stick a gun in my face.

It does not help that another local officer took a gun away from a man and did not know how to handle it, almost shooting the mans father at a KFY. There is a policy that anyone can have a open gun without permit. This man was an attorney and vet , his father was a vet, and the cop said having a gun was suspicious and therefore detained him. Agencies have come into help and are following with lawsuit. The victim was a lawyer and knew his rights. Funny nobody smashed his face causing the need for surgery-oh ya, it was a man, they only do that to women where I live. Yes google wheeling west virginia and see the worst cops in America.

Just across the river in Martins Ferry Ohio, a local cop and chief broke into the home of the serrogate mom for Sara Jessica Parker. He would have got away with it if not the connection of fame. Was trying to sell info to the Enquirer. It is all around where I live, but they are getting caught every day more and more, and it is because of every voice Gloria, you may be just one, but together, we are the choir.

Gloria, I can't express how in awe I feel at reading about your courage or how angry I am that things like deposition are part of society. It is shameful that they're allowed to do that. I wish you well in your stand against this. Really well done to you .

Brat and Meadowsweet,

Thanks but this has really scared me and scarred me. I had never been involved in any lawsuit and when I talk to attorneys, they are very aware and completely understand the lawyers strategy to break down a person who had attrocities and tragedies in her life and use that to break her. All I can is that I try to keep this in perspective. Years ago, blacks could be lynched and no one punished. Women were beat by their husbands because it was the husband's right. It's worse in other countries. I am just lucky that I really do have great rapport with the police in my area and it's so weird like you said Brat. The lawsuit my lawyer had before me was a man with a criminal background that got drunk at a bar and attacked an off duty police officer. He won a huge settlement. I was sitting on a garage floor with my back to three police officers and they beat me up and dislocated my shoulder (and I had been contacting their police departmetn for three months in an attempt to retrieve my property) Oh well, the hard part is now burning the paperwork and deleting all of the information from my computer. It means I have to remember just once more. I dread ever seeing my ex again. I so want to put this all behind me. The nightmares have almost disappeared.

Hugs,
Gloria

I understand the need to burn records, files, notes to find closure. I was going to do that but decided to put in all in a box and pack away in a place that would not be in my way. Im now glad that I did not burn it as the information can help someone else without any pressure on me to have to recall. It is all there, and someone else can look at it without me having to.

You have to do what is right for you. Sometimes justice takes years and we never receive personal justice, yet part of my seeking justice was to prevent it from happening to someone else. If a change happens on someone elses behalf-it is still what I was seeking, even though my attempts failed alone.
Turning the information over may assist in preventing damage to others. All the work , thought, and energy that went into my attempts to stop this failed-for the time. I am glad to know that what it took from me can be used to help someone else. It shows patterns, ignored complaints by superiors, etc. I am so glad I had it.

I only wish that I could feel safe in my own home. I wish that I had the confidence that as a law abiding citizen, I would not be drug from home in the middle of the night due to the instabilty of police. I wish I could fall asleep before 6 am without meds. I had a out of town guest here for a few nights and slept normal hours. After his departure, I am back to falling asleep after dawn. It has been three years since the a$$hole drug me out just before dawn. I can see the connection but cannot repair it. I am hoping that moving will be the ticket. I am not one to run from anything, yet, even with therapy, I have not been able to repair this.
