Tell Me Something.....

I failed my driving test 2 times before getting my license.

When I first got with my husband, I didn't know how to cook at all and I didn't even know how to make kool aid. I am now a good cook and can make things from scratch ,if I choose to.

I have my own style. I don't like to wear what everyone else wears or be like everyone else.

I don't have a good sense of direction. I can get lost driving across town.

In the mornings I drink 1/2 a cup of coffee, then a bottle of water, then a can of pepsi.

I'm a bit of a speed reader.

I was a Sunday school teacher, but lost the position because I called another church member a bitch.( probably not such a surprise though, right?haha)

I was very humbled the first time I did volunteer work at a homeless shelter. I actually cried after I helped serve the meal to the people that were there.

I'm afraid of large dogs even though the 2 I have are pretty huge.

I once lied on a job application to be a cook at an old folk's home that I was one. Had no idea how to cook. I got the job, then went home and asked my mother in law what to do.Just really, really needed the job. Desperation plus a few easy recipes- got through it ok.

Did the same thing later about being a painter ( walls, not art. ) Harder to learn that simply so got caught but being a young female with babies the men felt sorry for me and taught me as I went. Really needed that job, too.

My step daughter dislikes me and kept signing me up to match dot com so I signed her up for every, single prayer chain, text, email, phone connection I could find. She's a rabid atheist.

I can change the oil in the car, do new brakes ( sometimes-the older cars-scared to try the new models ), change all the fluids, change a tire. That's just because Dad thought girls should know how to do stuff, like shooting, too.

My First Real Job

Anni's post brought back memories. My first job was delivering pizzas in a college town. They had Volkswagen Beetles that we drove (OMG this was like 1972 or something) I lied about knowing how to drive a standard. One time I was at a stop sign and couldn't get it in gear. It was taking so long that a police car even stopped to see if I was ok. Welllllll, I realized eventually that I was trying to start it in 3rd gear. But I eventually got it going, LOL

Another time, again not knowing how to drive it, I sped around a corner only to find a car stopped in front of me. I slammed my foot on the pedal like I would in MY car. OOPS, instead of slamming on the brake, I slammed on the CLUTCH and rear ended the other car. Had to go explain to the boss and he had someone take me out to give me a lesson. But I didn't get fired!

One time, I was delivering subs in a dorm lobby and a guy grabbed the bag and ran. Stupidly, I went after him. When he realized I was chasing him several buildings later, he stopped and confronted me. A BIG dude and I was a little scrawny kid just out of high school. He was going to kick my ass. But I talked him into giving be one of the 2 sandwiches back, LOL but then my boss thought I was lying because I came back one sub short and he thought I ate it. Didn't get fired.

One time went in a dark entrance to a house, guy came down and pulled a gun. Said, "give me the pizzas, your money and the keys to the car." I got as far as handing him the pizzas and he squirted me in the face! I was so scared I didn't report it. I was just glad I didn't get shot.

I made less than a dollar hour since theoretically I got tips. Minimum wage was $1.80 back then so they could pay me 90 cents an hour. Soooooo, I would stuff sub buns, etc in my coat to take back to to the frat house, justifying it as a "subsidy", LOL Didn't get caught so I didn't get fired. But I quit soon after that.

OK, I'm done, LOL (You can't make this stuff up folks)

I love flying sport kites. My favorite is a stack of rainbow colored diamond kites.

I have a terratrike recumbant bike that I love to ride. I had it for two years before I had the courage to start riding around my neighborhood. This past summer, I began by just riding a block or two around the neighborhood. By the end of the summer, I was riding 20 miles on Saturdays, and 5-7 miles during the weekdays. My agoraphobia chains broke quickly once I knew that they were just in my mind.

I can juggle.

In one of my previous lives, I was a soloist in our drum & bugle corps. I really wasn't very good, but I was loud. :> I could play songs on the guitar, trumpet, soprano & mellophone bugles, french horn, and harmonica. I can't access those skills unless I'm 'in' that fragment of my life....and I don't allow myself to go there often. Too scary, still.

I am great at entertaining kids. MUCH more so than adults.

I am a birdwatcher. I love filling my feeders and just enjoying watching the little beings flocking around them.
