News Terrorist Attack In Paris

I saw footage on the news today, where a false alarm sent the public into panic mode.

That's what we are doing wrong, if the media never got permission to show such footage, it would deny these monsters the publicity they seek!

That's the main reason they carry out these barbaric attacks, it gives them notoriety they wanted.

I know it's not always the best thing, but during World War Two, the press was censored as to what they could print for the sake of moral. Maybe we should think of that, even though it does go against our civil liberty.

We have already changed the way we travel on planes these days, with all the extra security we have to go through, and we accept that without any problem.

I just wanted to post an update that the plane that went down in Russia was a terrorist attack, and over 200 people died. So I'd like to take a moment to stand in respect to the lives lost in Russia and say a prayer for them. Isis seems to be attacking Europe. And threatened to attack the US as well. So whatever happens, lets all stand together and not allow terror to rule our respective countries.

There is no enumerated power in the Constitution that the Federal government is in charge of immigration. The UN apparently has said we need to accept them... so has our president but last night 15 governors disagreed and today the LA Times said that a full half of state governors don't want them at present and are refusing. The demographic of the "refugees" in question is significantly disproportionately male adults, with a much lower percentage of females and children. For the record, we already received 70,000 last year. They are 98% Sunni. I say the governors should give our president the middle finger and stand their ground.

I'm not sure where I stand on this because I can validly see the stances of both sides. I am concerned about allowing terrorists into our country, but I'm also concerned about the innocent people. My dad made a point that only Muslims will be seeking refuge over here, and the Jewish and Christian people in Muslim countries will be forced to stay behind because they are discriminated against. He asked why we should protect people who predominantly disagree with our way of life.

I'm not sure if what my dad says is accurate, but it makes me think anyway. I believe in protecting the innocent, but how can you prove people are innocent and not terrorists without a margin of error? Is it possible? And think of the potential damage....if terrorists did get in our country. It's a horrible risk. Yet my heart goes out to the innocent people over in Syria. I don't think there is an easy answer to this.

Personally, I think if Islam is the religious preference, that Islamic countries should accept them. I am Christian and do have a pretty strong opinion about our president who does not want to accept those refugees who are or profess to be Christian and also that his administration is poised to ignore the fact that Christians are the most persecuted religious group in this new century (thanks in large part to those of Islamic extremist persuasion) and knock them off the list. So far in fiscal year 2016 (which started October) we have about 2% who are refugees and Christian... that would be 53 of them (not counting the beginning of the 10,000 who began arriving in New Orleans this past weekend). Out government can't vet or track them... they can't even find the 6 million people who's visas have expired for cripes sake.

Want incompetence? Our current administration is replete with it ... people who think they can dictate by royal order to our Governors... are it. Inept sycophant on the taxpayer dime and the federal tit.

P.S. Just read an article that immigration OUT of Saudi Arabia is up 93%. Things that make ya go hmmm... the home of Wahhabism. Wahhabi mission; is a religious movement or branch of Sunni Islam. It has been variously described as "orthodox", "ultraconservative", you may remember them from 9/11.

Yea! when we had that "mad cow" incident here in the U.K. a few years a ago, the government had a system where they could track every individual cows record right back to when it was born, and track it's progress through the complete food supply system.

Yet! it can't find the thousands of illegal immigrants that are working and staying here in the U.K.?

Guys
Islam is far from homogeneous
Moslems are not all the same.

Where did Christianity come from? And via whom? Saul of tarsis, child of immigrants, who travelled to the middle East to scratch his itch for religion.

Since when was the united state "Christian"? Certainly there are many Christians living in America, but
State and religion are [wisely imo] kept seperate.

The rituals of that state are copied from those of freemasonry, and require only belief in a creator, there is nothing in that that is incompatible with, for example Judaism, Hinduism or Islam.

Regarding immigration, why should people be prevented at gunpoint from crossing a line drawn on a map?
We're communicating in English, where did that language come from? Not I suggest, north America, Australia or new Zealand.

And come to that, where is the old Zealand? It's not in Britain.

Lots of us are children of economic migrants and refugees. Should they have been confined to home ground?

And if so, how tightly?

To forever inbreed in the parish of their birth? Or tighter still?

Come on guys, drop the lamestream talking points and suggestions for what central planners should enforce at gunpoint, and consider the individuals rather than grotesque aggregated stereotypes.

I said "I am a Christian" not that our nation is Christian though it was based on Judeo Christian values and a goodly number of the founding fathers were ministers/priests and pastors and I have read of the atrocities committed against them (the migrants that are the topic of this discussion) in their home countries. Neither did I claim "all Muslims are the same". Certain sects are more prone to radicalize than others though of course not "all". My problem is that they need to be vetted and we do not have the ability to do that as stated by some of the highest officials in our current administration in the weeks to months before the Paris tragedy.

Your comment by the way about turning people back at gunpoint is ludicrous, our southern boarder states are being forced to ignore laws by the feds and have their hands tied in most cases. Already having an immigration issue of significant dispute here in the states, illegal immigration via Mexico of South Americans, some of whom are human trafficking people of other nationalities for profit... and all of those are coming in. As well as Cubans... I think we here in the states have our hands full thank you.

You in Europe can choose to do as you wish. We've got our hands full as it is and have a federal government that is arbitrarily choosing which laws on the books it wants to enforce and which ones it doesn't (like illegal immigration and marijuana as two for instances). In the previous weeks many security officials in the current administration stated very clearly that they did not have the ability to vet those due to come in and be granted status. Our president is actually outnumbered in that regard by like 6 to one (himself).

Have you not read of the women and children thrown overboard on the "refugee" boats? Have you not read about what was occurring in the transition facilities? Have you not read about the level of violence and intolerance against Christians, Shias, Yazidis/Yezidi, Shabak, Turkmen and others? I have.

From a 2014 September US State Department Report, "Beyond the mass evictions and forced migrations perpetrated against Christians, Yezidis, Shia Muslims including Shabak and Turkmen, and others, we have seen reports of extrajudicial and mass killings, beheadings, abductions, forced conversions, torture, rape and sexual assault, using women and children as human shields, and people being burned or buried alive. Women and girls as young as 12 or 13 have been taken captive, to be sold as sex slaves or put into forced marriages with ISIL fighters."

Inept governance by an incompetent president created the current crisis and mass migration. This president had 3 years to address the rise of this group but he chose to ignore many who advised him and withdrew troops for political expediency (his reelection) which created this crisis. So why 98% Sunni and disproportionally adult male of military age? That is my question but apparently only the Obama administration knows for sure and they aren't inclined to discuss it. It is easier, as you have, to conflate the issue.

I am far more inclined to accept into this country true victims of persecution for resettlement than risk entrance of the most likely to incite violence, intolerance, and spread the hate. That would be allowing relocation of Christians, Yezidis, Shia Muslims including Shabak and Turkmen rather than allowing the fed over the next 3 years to bring to our shores an unvetted 240,000 or more higher risk Sunnis.

It is a national security issue plain and simple... and here in the states... considering how issues of illegal and legal immigration as well as over staying of visas and work permits has been handled... there is low to no confidence in the ability of the Feds to afford sufficient scrutiny of those it seeks to grant lawful status to.

I would love to see this go to court... as now there are more than half the states who are wanting to put a hold on this program... but to me, this is a matter for Congress, State governments and law enforcement entities.... The fed, as I've said before does NOT have enumerated powers over immigration in the constitution. I support a hold on the resettlement issue until the question of risk to National Security can be properly addressed.

Perhaps the UK is run more lawfully than our current US governance. If that's the case, it must be nice.

There are always spies & infiltrators in refugee groups. That's a known quantity. However, I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone of this.

http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10005139

What happened to the Jewish Refugees that we as Americans, & other European nations, turned away and refused admittance to.

***

Also the fact that smuggling routes into and out of every country on the planet are firmly established -and constantly shifting- and are used by cartels, traffickers, & clueless backpackers the world over with as much ease as you or I go to the corner market. It's only difficult to get into a country if you follow the rules. Criminals don't tend to.

The moment we allow terrorists to convince us to go aganst what is right, out of fear for our safety. They have won.

To turn away thousands and thousands of people who have no where else to go. Isn't just a matter of homeland security. It's the right thing to do, these people have nothing. Being accepting of others who are different, helping the people who are needy, allowing everyone the chance to have a life without fear and pain. This is supposed to be what our western culture is all about.

I don't want to be blown up, shot or decapitated any more than anyone else does. I also don't want to imagine I live in a country that is willing to turn away so many desperate people because an extremely small percentage of them are bad people.

I personally think we shoud work even harder to help these refugees. Show ISIS, Al quieda, Taliban, Mujahideen or whatever they want to call themselves this week, that we will not be intimidated. Show them that if they want us to stop being good people, to stop living our lives the way we want to. Then they had better kill each and every one of us, that's the only way it will work.

This is my opinion about this. For what it's worth.I know many disagree with me, not just here but everywhere. That's fine. That's your right to do so. I don't have to agree with it, or even like it for that matter. I will always try to respect it.

"As of 2013, approximately 1.02 million immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region resided in the United States, representing 2.5 percent of the nation’s 41.3 million immigrants." So when you read... only a quarter million or so over the next three years... or "only 10,000" as I've heard and read some left wing pundits and politicians state... think again. (source link: http://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/middle-eastern-and-north-african-immigrants-united-states/ Middle Eastern and North African Immigrants in the United States June 3, 2015)

In my own state, how many refugees arrived in Florida in the past five years? 170,685 for FFY 2006-2010. I found no available State specific information beyond 2010 on the Florida Department of Services and Families web site. But on the Statistics for Florida 2015 web site by the same Department it states, "48,816 refugees arrived or became eligible for Refugee Services in the last Federal Fiscal year" and also, from 2011 thru 2015 an additional 178,816 refugees arrived or became eligible for Refugee Services for the last 5 years (2011-2015). So 2006 through Federal Fiscal year 2015, Florida has received 349,501 "lawful" immigrant refugees.

The breakdown? We received refugees from 57 different countries last year. 94 percent of refugees were Cuban (Yes Virginia, there still is a Cuban refugee "crisis"... you just don't read about it cuz it's localized here in Florida.)

This does not take into consideration illegal immigrants or those who over stay their visas.

So in my personal view, we (as both a state and a nation) have already been doing our part.
