Tetris Reduces PTSD Flashbacks

Oh wow! I just thought I was being weird for being addicted to Tetris, freecell and solitare! They keep my mind totally focused on the one thing and I'm not able to think about anything else when I am playing them. I find that by playing them if I am in a depressive episode it helps take me out of it by having to use that level of concentration. It stops me ruminating on other things.

When I wake up from a nighmare in the middle of the night, I play either solitaire or blackjack on my computer. It makes me focus on the cards and stay focused on the cards and takes my mind off the nightmare.

I don't go on-line and play cards for money but I admit that when I am experiencing a lot of PTSD symptoms, I will play for hours and consider myself addicted to it. When I'm feeling good, I can't stand to sit on my computer and play games.

Boy! Does it ever help though when I am feeling triggered!! Good Luck!!

I'm the same and end up wondering where the day has gone.

Funny, I got into freecell and solitraire for awhile and then became addicted by positng on political forums. I spent a lot of time arguing with people. It was some weird way for me to express my aggression toward strangers and I thought I was being altruistic, always defending the underdog.

I've been off all political forums for a week now.

Maybe seeing all the blocks fit together calms and gratifies the OCD part of the brain that's often overactive in PTSD.

I read things like this and I just want to laugh!

Someone knew about Neurofeedback and thought "hey, maybe it works with regular video games!" Uhm, not quite.
