I'm hoping they both get asked a lot of policy questions and none about "scandals." The scandals are ultimately noise which prevents policy discussions from being explored in the media. That's just not good in a democracy.

Agree, Bloom. I think Lester Holt is in for a lot of heat if he isn't tough and doesn't stick to the real issues, and I bet he knows that. Witness Matt Lauer at the NBC/MSNBC Commander-in-Chief Forum. What a fiasco. I think Lester has far more brain cells, however.

Good for the NYT. I thought that was a very balanced endorsement. As JMH said on the other thread, she's human and thus not perfect, but she works hard at always improving, and I've no doubt she will have good computer geeks on her staff to manage the computer and email stuff. I hope they're also good at blocking out Russian hackers.

Anyone else been getting that Russian-based pro-Trump spam in their email? Ugh.

Anyone else got the pre-debate jitters? I'm sure Trump's got something up his sleevies besides his armies and it's probably not in-depth policy talk. I'm not worried about how Hillary will do and respond to him. I'm worried about how the undecideds who are just starting to pay attention will read whatever happens tonight.

I caught a few minutes of MSNBC coverage a little while ago and a black woman representing the Trump campaign's diversity or some such team and Chris Hayes ended up practically yelling at each other, both at the same time. Ugh. I had to get away. I hope this isn't a sign of how ugly things might get. Well, they're already ugly, but when Chris Hayes appears that close to losing it, it's not good.

Whew, just checked in and no yelling at the moment. Brian Williams and Rachel Maddow are the hosts, both calm people. Eugene Robinson and Rachel were just now talking about how they think everyone watching tonight is apprehensive. Eugene also said the exact same thing I said my last post, worried about how the people who are just now tuning in will respond.

Eh, I need a break. I'm shocked I've lasted this long. Trump started losing it almost as soon as it started and has been pouting quite a bit. Clinton, meanwhile is staying very professional and adult.
