News The Hillary Support Thread!

I think Hillary had a lot of great moments in this debate. Two of my favorites were when she assured other world leaders that she would absolutely continue to support NATO and when she described her stamina in terms of her career and her hours-long congressional interrogation. And who can deny that she did great just days after recovering from pneumonia? Not only standing there for 90 minutes dealing with him, but then going to an event afterward and speaking.

Wow, what a crazy debate!!! Trump rightfully got his @$$ handed to him. He is not a healthy human being by any measure. I'm SO PROUD of my candidate!!! She was poised, and steadfast, and despite being interrupted 51 times (we know what that feels like, don't we, ladies?!) she didn't get sucked into his bizarro world.

The stock market is up today. They seem to like the idea of a woman POTUS.

Trump was just bizarre. I feel sorry for anyone who has to have any time in his presence. He is a world-class misogynist racist bully.

I try to.spend s little time as possible viewing things from the other side in this election but am curious if Trump and.company are touting this as a win. And I wonder if his supporters saw anything past their goo goo eyes.

Going to the Fox News website should give you a sense of that. I actually went there last night but could not bear to read anything. The headlines were mixed. Some writers there actually did seem to have the view that Clinton won. I saw Chris Christie interviewed last night and he was touting this as a win for Trump. He's had too much kool-aid .

Hillary as First Lady of Arkansas. Very interesting. Looks like this clip is part of a documentary airing tonight on PBS: WATCH: For Hillary in Arkansas, First Came Rejection. Then Came Rebranding.

Go to the main Frontline page to see info about this doc titled The Choice. Clicking on Schedule at the top of the page will tell you when it's airing on your local PBS station.

I was struck by what a big deal it was that she kept her maiden name back then. I'm about a generation younger than her, and I have occasionally encountered people here in rural MN who are confused because I kept my maiden name. But then, I don't think any of them have ever done an index for a book. Compiling an index is a grueling, crazy-making job and when women authors or other figures marry and change their names, it just adds to the pain in the ass of indexing (i.e., more cross-referencing), and I swore I'd never do that to any indexer :). Oh, then, plus, you have to cross reference in your bibliography, too. Hubby accepted it just fine. As did first husband (the jerk).

Lol! I was listening to him a little bit ago and heard his great rant about how verbally abusive Trump is to women and how his kids and his staff should be ashamed of themselves, but I missed the segment you're talking about. I can only take so much at a time. I'm glad we're all keeping each other informed.

What is so striking to me is the casual use of so much verbal and emotional abuse by all the GOP candidates this election cycle. It's always been there but it's become so normalized that even people who have been abused see a woman being treated this way as ok or even as if she deserves it.

Trump has shown himself to be a profoundly abusive man, boss, and candidate. I'm not surprised by him, but I am surprised at how many people I like and respect flock to his banner and are ok with his treatment of women.

The fat-shaming, xenophobia, and racism is particularly disgusting and our school district is dealing with a lot more of it directed especially at girls than in years past. The effects of that on tv and all over the internet is profoundly disturbing.
