The Pain Of Keeping/ Getting Fit.

I'm taking it easy. I now have an appointment to see the Podiatrist in mid May so amybe I'll get some insoles for my boots.

Disappointed in myself these past few days, as I did not get out and walk like I needed to. I find that the pain and exhaustion I suffer is making it very difficult to function physically and I have to stop to rest at very short intervals. I discovered this by getting out in the yard to plant flowers, which I found to be truly difficult and I know of no other reason than deconditioning...*(my own fault). :(

I am gonna speak with my doctor and see if I can't be given a mild pain reliever/muscle relaxer/NSAID, or something of that nature, to help me with muscle pain and stiffness. The exhaustion is just something I will have to pace myself through and I think with the help of some pain-relief, I will be more able to get some exercise....at least this is my hope.

((((LH))))

It is difficult when you feel exhausted. :( The pain meds sound good LH and I hope if you get muscle relaxants they don't make your fatigue worse. Do you have anyone close by who can encourage you/go with you on your walks? I find I'm more motivated when H encourages me to go with him.

I went out with my H yesterday to a small arboretum we know of. It was a bit chilly but we found a sunny spot and sat on a bench to eat our packed lunch. There were some ducks on the pond and they came over to us to share our lunch. They kept chasing each other and were so comical that H and I just sat and laughed at them.:D

We found a woodland and had a stroll through them. There was a brook and lots of bluebells and other wild flowers. I didn't do more than 2 miles and my leg and asthma were OK. Later, we stopped in a beautiful meadow just full of dandelions. They are classed as weeds but here they looked so beautiful.

I didn't sleep well last night. Restless legs, cats fighting outside all night and nightmares. I'm very tired today and have had to do the shopping and go and get my meds from the pharmacy.

I do feel better for seeing the beauty of nature LH. This is a photo of the meadow, I hope it cheers you up:

Beautiful Picture!!! ...it really makes me want to go over to the man-made lake that's close to where I live. There are ducks and geese, and fishing is allowed as they stock the lake with bass. :)

I don't have any one to walk with me or help motivate me, so your picture is greatly appreciated!!:D I am more motivated when I think of getting out and enjoying the beauty of nature. (I don't know if a muscle relaxer is goin to help me, but), I think if I get something to help with the pain and stiffness, I will be able to get out and about more often.;)

I need to remember to take my rescue inhaler on my walks, as I have COPD and the humidity/heat make it difficult to breath without it. I am also considering using my cane to help me walk, as my legs get 'rubbery' after only a few minutes of exercise. It is kinda tough getting started, but I am not one to give up easily and I think if I can just get my pain under control (without sacrificing energy levels), I will be fine.

Thank you for sharing CC,
(((((((Hugs))))))),

I appreciate the posts CraftyCath and Lionheart. I need the inspiration you provide. The Depression and PTSD combo, thwart my feeble attempts to get off my duff and get moving. I need to ramp up my determination, so again thank you.

I did make it out a few days ago though, and the wildflowers are blooming. I wish my picture was better, but here is a glimpse of one of them:

After two years of suffering with severe plantar faciitus, tendonitus and a pinched nerve in my hip, I am finally getting some relief and starting back walking. This thread was very encouraging for me! Thanks for starting it, and thatnks to those who contributed!!!

This thread was very encouraging for me!

a3a2 - Thanks for your contribution, I'm glad the thread has encouraged you. Your condition sounds painful. Take it easy with the walking and lots of stretching exercises before. Kepp up the good work!

You can tape them

Thanks for sharing that innordinate, I never knew you could tape them. You live and learn!

I did a 6 and a half mile walk yesterday with my H. It was on flat ground, mostly fields and canal tracks but there was a good bit of tarmac road. I took it really easy and had no pain in my shin. My right knee and my hips were hurting but I just ignored it and kept on.

I tore the meniscus in my knee climbing Snowdon a few years ago and it never fully healed. I have Osteopenia (thinning of the bones. A precursor to Osteoporosis) and hypocalcemia. I also have iron deficiency anemia and asthma so all in all I do pretty well. I really have to push myself some days but it is worth it.

On yesterdays walk we saw lots of buzzards and we had our packed lunch sad by a canal bridge and was rewarded by a visit from a bat! It was flying around under the canal bridge catching water boatmen off the surface of the canal. I couldn't get close enough to see what kind of bad it was but it was a delight to watch. :)

Later, we came to some lovely canal locks and were rewarded with a visit from too beautiful Grey Wagtails! They were nesting in the garden of a house next to the canal. The house had an overflow from the canal running through it and I think that was why the Wags were there, They love fast water! Here is a picture, it isn't very clear but it shows this lovely bird and why getting out in the open air is so good for you! (I will post other pictures on the 'Photos of Nature Where You Live' thread.
