I always wanted to get into this University, since high school. I didn't have the grades for it when I graduated high school so I went to a community college to prove I could pull the grades. I was jerked around a lot, but I applied for a third time over the last few years and was accepted!

I am officially a student of Neuroscience. This program is offered at maybe a dozen universities at most, in this country. I'm very excited.

I hope to eventually make a career out of studying mental health; integrating consciousness, quantum mechanics, psychology, sociology, physiology and philosophy into one beautiful, interdisciplinary study.

Persistence pays off...Good for you for sticking it out....

Thanks, everyone!

Getting into the program was the easy part. While I'm sure the courses will be difficult, I have a feeling the hardest part for me will be keeping the self-doubt at bay.

I will do my best and keep moving forward.

Great stuff on not giving up on your dream.

Now keep going and do all you can to get to the end of this path. Then start on the next. Just let us all know when we have to call you Sir, Professor or Doctor.

Hey, congratulations from another neuroscience student. :D Persistence pays off, for sure.

I went all glassy-eyed at the word interdisciplinary. I'm studying the biopsychology of addiction (which technically falls under our biomed major), and sometimes I wish I didn't have to specialize.

I never liked the idea of having to specialize, but on the flip side--I've noticed if I delve really deep into something, I'll start seeing connections into some of the other disciplines that I am interested in; that way I can focus more on what peeks my interest, while still staying within the brackets I have to be in.

What do you hope to do with your degree, transient?

I wound up applying to another university, with a 12:1 student-teacher ratio. This university was way too big and beaurocratic for me. :(

I start in the Spring and am looking forward to not being a number in a line, but actually knowing my professors.
