I just found this thread, and I would absolutely love to do something like this.
I spent the night away from home last night, stayed at my BIL's place whilst he and my partner were setting up a stall in a shopping mall til 3am, I was almost in tears at the thought of falling asleep without my cats or my partner, and I'm still shaky and teary 24hours later.

I've been hiding it pretty well, but after 8 hours in a shopping mall yesterday, I'm feeling extremely shaky and anxious, despite now being back home, and finding this has given me an inkling of hope to continue on with work and start planning a more solid career, study path and eventually, a baby:cry::inlove:

Yeah, I've just done some looking, and I've found a whippet breeder not far from me which would fulfill my needs as well as making sure that it isn't a 'doggy' smelling dog with bad habits for my partner, as he cannot stand it!!!

I most likely will not be able to get a dog for a little while, but if I can get one sometime soon, it will be good because it means that the support will be there for a long time to come, well into the period where I get married and have children.

Not to mention that if I go back to study, it will help me heaps, I don't know about you guys, but for me, there is nothing more grounding than having a pet to stroke while you are puzzling over an assignment, and it really helps me focus.

Hehe, well for now I'll just have to hear about the wonders of therapy dogs as I've just been shut down flat by my partner without even a change to explain how it could really help me.

Pardon the french, but right now I'm pretty f*cked off.

He hates dogs.
Comes from a lifetime of poorly behaved/trained dogs pissing and shitting everywhere, and a mother who put dogs down when she got tired of them.

Still, I thought it was pretty unfair to get shut down like a freezer lid, especially because I was just wanting to talk about it with him, I know its well into the future.[DOUBLEPOST=1349521252][/DOUBLEPOST]I want a whippet.

Yeah, something about that breed really gets me....I used to really love big tough snarly dogs, but now as my personality has changed, I love the sleek, dainty, loving and loyal whippets, they are the epitome of everything I want, and want to be, as well as who I am now.

And they are serial couch lizards when necessary...... We'll get on perfectly!:smug:

I'd love a mastiff, but the only way I'll be able to get away with a dog on the bed is if it's a whippet......my partner HATES big dogs, and little ones too.........this is going to be tough me thinks!
