and "my mind creates a crises to match how i feel inside". A past event is perfect. I feel trapped, and a past event is a trap.

Hmmm...this is very thought provoking and loops back to some problems I'm dealing with recently. I keep disregarding the body reaction because it's easy and familiar. I'very done somatic work but seem to buck it.
 
I think that has a lot to do with it, the effect of how it appears to others, how we make sense of it, how we relate.

For eg, if we have a FB, our mood may appear to change, but no one else knows why. If we have one & don't realize it is one, or super-minimize it, we still feel & experience the moment a certain way, our bodies as well, but our minds are left to explain why we are suddenly feeling upset, frightened, aversive, etc. And then we 'react' and assess accordingly tht surely the cause is here-&-now, & then there is selective percepion or constricted thinking, & cognitive distortions that can also come in to play. (JMHO).
 
I wish we could just fix this in one fell swoop.
But for me, it feels as though the crux has been to do a deep dive to get to the core of substantial hurt that I have been carrying for decades. I don't think I can successfully focus on changes to how I can connect with others until we muck around and heal the space that these wounds hold.

I wish that we could fix this in one fell swoop. I don't really know how it's done. :(
