So i have been with my now wife 25yrs. I still struggle with fear of judgement. I have spent yrs hiding it. I have lived with discrimination. I lost my children for a year and half because the courts thought i was not a good mother because of being gay. My ex was an alcholic who did not take care of the children. My wife has gone through major health issues and i had to lie why i was out of work. Or take vacation so i would not disclose. I would even take out spouse insurance because of fear of people judging. I have gotten a little better, i actual told one person i worked with. Yes things have changed but that fear is always there.

Having a mental illness or psychological trauma puts most people at a disadvantage to begin with, having other maligned characteristics or traits is going to compound things. You're not just fighting internal demons but external ones as well. That is exhausting.

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. All I can offer is validation that you are right and I hear you. Our nonchristian family was literally run out of town because of harassment, assaults and death threats.
