This Seems A Little Weird....

This morning, I didn't have anyplace I had to be until 10, so I let my day get off to a leisurely start. When I went back into the bedroom to get dressed, I noticed that the latch on the bedroom door was broken. In fact, the bolt that holds the door shut was dangling by a thread. It was hard to see why it wasn't on the floor. Had to sit down & think about that a little!

That doorknob hasn't been right in the whole time I've lived here. If you shut the door tight, it sticks shut and is REAL hard to open, without breaking something. So, I don't shut the door tight. I do shut it most of the way though. (After the last "bat in the house" episode I decided, if I'm going to be awakened by the flutter of wings, it's a lot better if they're in the other room!)

There was nothing wrong with the door when I went to bed. I slept about like I usually do. Woke up a couple of times. Got up about 4, went to the bathroom, checked for saber tooth tigers (running joke with therapist), went back to bed. He tells me he thinks it's important that you "make yourself available for sleep" 7 or 8 hours each night. Hadn't put in enough time yet, so I "made myself available" and actually went back to sleep. Woke up, had coffee/breakfast, puttered around house, checked out my new favorite internet forum (this one!), then was a little freaked out to find out "someone" broke the bedroom door last night. I'm not sure I can just replace the fractured doorknob. The door is split bad enough there's no way it can hold screws in the right place anymore.

I live alone. Well, me & the 2 dogs. Neither of them will cop to it. WTH???? Sleepwalking? I did that when I was a kid. As far as I know, I haven't done it in years. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

When I sleep walk I don't often remember what happened. Perhaps you accidentally closed the door when you got up and had to really pull hard to open it. It is an odd thing though. Hope you are alright.

I think that's exactly what happened. I took the broken pieces of the door latch along and gave them to my T last week as a souvenir. The door itself probably needs replacing....... He told me he wished that he could say no one gets hurt sleepwalking, but he wasn't going to lie to me, they do sometimes get hurt. Not much I can do about that, I guess. Maybe it won't happen again....

How often do you sleepwalk? Do you have any idea of things that make it more likely to happen?

Not frequently. Not anymore at least. But I notice when I'm stressed, working a lot, etc., I tend to do a bit more.

Good to know! Last weekend was a little....complicated, and not if what I'd call a good way. That may have had something to do with it.

The bedroom is fairly small. There isn't a lot of room between the bed & the dresser. I've been blocking that space with a chair, figuring that tripping over the chair MIGHT wake me up. Might not too, based on some of the stories I've read. (I maybe should quit researching this stuff! LOL)

ROTFL! Possibly....... they have both been trying to look innocent...... At least it hasn't happened again!
