Cynthia,
I broke my back and am having a really hard time getting around. I can't find the paperwork on the new brain wave machine but it has a website address for Positivechanges on the machine. I am very thrifty. Who wants to pay more than you have to for the machines? I've seen them sold for hundreds of dollars but I got mine on eBay. If you do a search on eBay, you can find much less expensive machines. I think I spent less than $100. Just make sure before you buy that it will allow you to plug in a CD or cassette player. Otherwise you will be experiencing alpha, beta and theta wave lengths but the true value I get from my brain wave machine is that it really puts you in a deep state of relaxation (hypnosis) so that your subconscious can benefit from the subliminal messages. It's great. You don't think it is sinking in but it does. Because you are in such a relaxed state you are not intellectualizing the suggestions. For example, if someone told me to feel beautiful. I would think of every flaw that my body has but when you are in a state of hypnosis. Your rational mind is not blocking. We PTSD sufferers have a brain that is trying to serve our best interests by protecting us from some trauma and danger and it very helpful to circumvent those thoughts and promote well being. I hope this helps. I have been almost symptom free when I remember to do this every day or every other day. Even though I know it works, I don't do it and right away my symptoms start to return. I think my mind is resisting. My mind is so programmed to protect from the trauma that for some reason it doesn't want me to let go. I am tricking my mind for my own good.
H20,
I can identifty with your bad experience with hypnotists. I was at a hypnotist convention when I was a licensed hypnotist and there was a seminar for male hypnotists that covered malpractice. I protested in front of the whole convention that it was sexist for the seminar to be for only male hypnotists because women were just as capable of taking sexual advantage of a client. Being an incest survivor, until I get to know someone, every man that I meet is potentially going to try to touch me. So this is a big trust thing. I know of hypnotists in my area who use headphones now and have the client in a separate room because this is a huge trust issue for women. It's not only woman, men can be molested also. Think about it. If someone is a pervert, why wouldn't they seize the opportunity if you are not going to remember anything?
Hope this helps!
