Throwing Up After Husband Leaves

I have "a nervous stomach". That's what my family has always called it. Its a stress/anxiety reaction.

About a month ago it got progressively worse. It started becoming an every day occurrence. I asked my pharmacist if there was anything I could take without a Prescription that really works. I tried ginger, warm flat ginger ale, cola syrup and something from the health food store ( I don't remember what it was called ), antacids as well a numerous other suggestions. He sold me something called Emetrol. Name brand costs about $9, generic $5. It is a thick, cherry flavored syrup. Depending on the severity of the nausea it can be a little difficult to swallow because of the thick syrup consistency. It reminds me if castor oil but doesn't taste bad.

I found that it works best if taken before the nausea gets too bad. I took some too late and the thickness actually made me vomit. It only comes in a 4oz bottle which will only last me 3 days. My pharmacy now keeps it in stock for me.

Just giving you another option to try. It does work for me although sometimes I need 2 doses before it does.

No matter which suggestion you try I hope find relief.

When I'm triggered or going through a particularly stressful time, I will throw up and/or have diarrhea much like it would seem everyone here does. You're not alone in this. It's adrenaline, and when you're husband leaves, your safety and protection that you need extra of right now are threatened and gone. It's a tough thing to deal with, and it's physically exhausting, as well. I sometimes say to myself aloud "I'm safe."

You can also look to the nearest major trauma center hospital. They will likely have an adequate psychiatry and psychology (behavioral health) department to help you. If I may offer one piece of strong advice: Be sure it's someone with experience in treating trauma.
