Not sure if this link by Robert Cox can stand, as it requires a free sign in to a Parenting Conference. Though specifically for parents of Autistic children, I found listening to it it really was pretty amazing, even describing trauma and the Vagal nerve's influence on determining whether it will be fight, or flight or freeze; dealing with SI, self harm; meltdowns, etc. Though it talks specifically more about the sensory aspect, the sensory (as in perceived by the amygdala) aspect after trauma seems right on. Specifically the trauma discussion I totally relate to. Supposedly it embraces a relatively new theory. And most of all, how to deal with it.

Any thoughts, if the link shows? Can't see anything specific or up to date about it elsewhere, but am rushing.

Dead Link Removed . It came up on Teachable.com, Parenting Autism Summit (free), Parenting ADHD & Autism Academy, 'The Trauma Effect the Autism Experience Has on The Brain", Robert Cox MA, LPC, NCC.

(The obvious being: seeing Autism as doing this, but the response that follows to solve it for Autism sounds exactly like what is going on post trauma, in general, which I believe is what he means).

Thank you!

I had to log in (free), then under 'courses' it shows as Parenting Autism Summit (as 'free'). There's a bunch of ' courses' ('free' under that, think it's the 2nd one) because it's a parenting conference, free for replay 36 hours, I think, for each.

It came up in my e mail this morning from a reputable other site for ADHD.

Yes I think it's exceptionally good, on how it's necessary to calm the mind first. It's so bang-on for trauma, I think. And how when we meltdown it's communicating we feel unsafe. Never heard it put together exactly that way, though, in a way- it's so obvious, basic.
