Other Triggered By Trump

I'm sorry, I have to disagree with you. If I had my pick of a republican candidate,it certainly would not have been Donald Trump. However, he is the one who was chosen and now faces defeat because of the actions of his own party. I remember when Donald Trump put in his bid for president and how almost everybody laughed at him, thinking he could never win. He did win, though, by the voice of the people and was never supported by the media, his own party, etc., etc. What he has done, he has done on his own and I give him credit for that. Regarding the video put out by Bobby Bush and probably on the advice of the Clintons, yes,it was obnoxious but I really believe that most men talk like this in the locker rooms, etc. and I don't see why this is an issue in his presidency bid. I think he firmly believes that he can make a difference in this country and he wants to try. I believe he would surround himself with only the best people to help him in understanding the duties of this office and I believe he would make changes and be a different kind of president.
Hillary Clinton and her husband are evil, lying people who have used this country to their own advantage and will continue to do so when she is elected. Bill Clinton did far worse things when he was president than those things which have been brought out about Trump. I think that the Clintons have many people in their pockets and it is my firm belief that this is the worst and most devious election that the United States has ever had. To see another Clinton in the White House absolutely horrifies me.

Even if other men, and I sure hope it's not most, talk like that, that doesn't make it ok. He was talking about committing assault. Sounded to be like he's was saying he'd done it. For sure sounded like he thought it was ok I'm not impressed with the open mike excuse. He was in a public place, around people he apparently didn't know. He sure didn't seem to find the idea of committing sexual assault to be a problem. The "Bill Clinton was worse" argument is irrelevant. I don't know the truth of it. If he committed crimes, he should be prosecuted. But he's not running for president now. We have the chance to elect someone who's not an embarrassment. There are more than 2 choices.

Welcome, @Jane28. I just want to point out that your post really belongs in the Clinton vs. Trump thread under the Politics forum. This thread is for those of us who are triggered by Trump because of our abuse experiences. This is definitely not the place to defend him.

I, and I'm sure others, would really appreciate it if you cut and pasted your post there. I intended this to be a safe place for those of us who feel differently.

Thank you in advance.

I wanted to reply to this thread because I've been waiting for months for this topic to come up...anywhere and its only now that he's crossed the sexual abuse line that people are starting to see that maybe he really is a toxic narc.

Anyway, after decades of healing and healing others, I feel pretty much healed and strong so that he does not trigger me.... What DOES trigger me is everyone else letting it happen, being silent, being scared of getting attacked for saying anything and also his supporters are very triggering and scary... like bullies are getting permission to be bullies...

I guess this reminds me of my toxic family, some of them good people, who ignored my mother's abuse, who blamed me for complaining or wanting to look into it (get into recovery), and scapegoated me along with her when I went 'no contact' with her, they all gave me grief and shame, rejection and abandonment.

Worse, they all ignored me and the affect it had on me, like nothing happened.

That's what is triggering to me. Not seeing the "king has no clothes", not seeing the "elephant in the room" and not seeing the invisible victims and if they do, they tear them apart so that coming forward is the most scariest thing in the world. To save self, one must remain in hiding.

Which is why I think we should have a National TELL Day where anyone who wants to TELL can do so safely, with support and resources. I think this should be on April 15, Tax day, because that's they day we all tell on ourselves and come clean and pay our dues.... plus there would be great opportunities for advertisement of TELL day and all teachers, cops, nurses, community centers, etc. were ready to hear what victims need to TELL. Regardless of age, when it happened, what happened, etc. It would also give "permission" for children to TELL on that day because it would be a socially acceptable thing to do, just like Halloween is a socially acceptable day to dress up as anything you want.

If you are being triggered, I validate you. It's real. Your feelings are real and are trying to tell you something. TELL. Tell yourself, tell your journal, tell a support group, tell your best friend, tell some place online anonymously. Free yourself from silent isolation and TELL.

Hi All, I wanted to give everyone some support. I'm not big into hugs but I'll share blankets and puppies if anyone wants it. I haven't been reading much because I'm trying to avoid triggers. @J P Bailey, I just saw my therapist and we talked about what you are saying. That's a big part of the trigger for me too.

@JP Bailey, thank you for your kind and thoughtful post. I've been triggered by him for months, but this video was the last straw for me.

I think a National TELL Day is a great idea. Have you considered floating it by either your U.S. representative or U.S. senator. That's a good way to get something like this officially acknowledged. Maybe we could form a little support group. I might be willing to reach out to our senators, Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar. I'm sure they'd be receptive to this idea. And I wouldn't think it would take up a lot of congressional time away from other stuff.

In Australia the other day, the New South Wales parliament passed a motion calling Trump a "revolting slug." Not everyone is letting him get away with it :-).

Yup, thats why I havent watched any news and cant watch the debate. He is this "big narc-lik...
I feel the same way, and somehow I think it helps to realize it is happening to other people, I have seen men like this before, and I know what they are capable off. I get triggered not only when he is on tv, but now everything in the news and media is about abuse. So I am trying very hard to avoid the triggers. I only watch Netflix video, you tube, or play music and bring my focus into my hobbies (I make soap and lotions-making a big stock lately, lol), whatever but thinking about the abuse. Let's try to stay strong together during this time.
