Method 1. I have found that staring at any part of my body produces a great anti anxiety, calming effect. I stare at a small part of my hand like my knuckle is the easiest way to accomplish this, not the whole knuckle at once, but a specific small spot of skin on the knuckle. At least five people now with panic attacks confirmed that it worked for them, within a couple of minutes Stare continuously, don't avert your attention at all for 2 minutes. I guess it works because over the eons of evolution when we were injured we often looked at the injury a lot, assessing and monitoring it, and after enough eons of doing that, that created a benefit in us , a triggering gene perhaps, from doing so that included an anti anxiety effect.

Method 2. This method is actually more powerful at least in my hands. And my friend was having what amounted to a panic attack. Staring at white noise, perfectly random TV snow or static puts me in what is a dead ringer for the anti-anxiety , calming theta brainwave state so I asked her to try it. In 3 minutes I watched her attack totally disappear and she reported total calm. A couple of days ago another person reported aborting their panic this way. To get the random static, one must have a TV pre 2005, called analogue, It may say that on the back. Digital and internet static is less random and doesn't have the same effect. Take the cable off and turn the set to a non broadcast channel displaying only black dots jumping around on a white background, so called TV snow or static. Most digital TV's don't display TV snow, instead display a blue screen, when turned to a non broadcast channel, TURN THE IRRITATING SOUND DOWN ALL THE WAY, as its disturbing and merely look at the static, the so called snow. The effect is so profound on anxiety and calming that I cant imagine many people not being able to calm themselves in short order.

Other ways of creating so called white noise do not work, they are not random like fans, waterfalls, etc and of course one doesn't look at them like in this method. I have reason to believe that it works because it puts one in the theta brainwave state, a highly valued and strived for healing and relaxing state which is also attained via hypnosis or swimming with dolphins due to their sonars effect on us. There are other methods proposed like binaural beats that put us in theta, they say, but I would bet this TV snow method does it better with greater effect.

I bought one analogue TV at a thrift shop and one at a garage sale and maybe one could find one at a TV repair shop. They cost five to ten dollars only , but maybe you can test a friends if you don't have one.

I had an internet friend today try this method number 2 above, and she said she tried looking at the tv snow for 2 to 3 minutes with the sound off on her analogue tv set and she sent me this note about her results.

"um I have panic anxiety anger heartache the whole kit and kaboodle
it reduced it dramatically, all of it"

She added that it made her feel "peaceful"

A woman who was experiencing non stop anxiety and panic attack during severe withdrawal from Ativan, a benzo. reports that looking at tv snow did not improve those symptoms.

Four people yesterday that I know who were not reporting anxiety tried the looking at a small spot on the hand method, above, and all reported a relaxation effect and one said it made her feel "like I have no worries". One said she was going to try it the next time she became anxious.

Interesting concept. I am seriously going to give method #1 a try inorder to get through the necessary grocery store visits that push me over the edge.

This has been an interesting topic for me as I have alot of anxiety. I will try them and see how it goes for me. Thank you for this.

Method one has always worked for me. :)

Cool Jeneva. May I ask, do you use this method of staring at any part of your body for panic attack or anxiety or both, and what percent of either or both does it remove and how long for either or both of staring does it take to get the result you get? And what part of your body did you use to stare at? Thanks , Steve Lord

Yesterday I heard that playing Tetris the video game works well on anxiety. You know the ol Atari Game that has made a comeback From the late 70's. Ok I am old. The ball goes back and forth very slow. You keep it going with paddles. Humm maybe something to do with EMDR??? When I am in safe place the tones and tapping are reduced to a similar speed. Could be how I managed for years. I was a Tetris addict. What do you think?
