So...another update...2 of my aunts have cancer, my Dad had it...so that is 3 out of 9. There is one with no problem at all.....The other 5 have cysts..that is a lot of kidney involvement in one family. I have 21 cousins..I know two are normal, one being me..my brother refuses to go but I spoke to him the other day and I think he is considering it now that 5 of our aunts have these cysts, the others have cancer and my dad died from it. i hope he goes..i think I might have talked him into it....the sooner anything is caught..the better....

It turns out one more aunt is positive and now two of the grandchildren. There are still about 18 grandchildren to be tested....what a blast from the past...at least it is 20 years since my dad died and there have been many medicle improvements..scary, really!

Yes, it is a good thing that medical technology has come so far...So remember to get tested on a regular basis, and remember that certain meds can have an affect on your kidneys....

We all need to remember that meds can and do have negative affects of parts of our bodies. Some can affect the kidneys, while others affect the liver, and then some can even effect the heart.

Pandora, I am so sorry to read this, I feel bad for you. I wish I could be better of comfort to you, I hope that know and feel you are not completely alone, and please know that I am thinking of you~I often do, please know that, I am sending positive thoughts your way. If I could do more then I would.

Well one more aunt to have the surgery...THEN...yesterday my Mothers phone rang and it was my Dads youngest sisters (she just had kidney surgery) My mother has not spoke to them since 1986..the year my Dad died. They went over to my mothers because they had to have her sign over a form releasing my fathers medical records because they want to do genetic testing...scary! They were only there 5 minutes but i am surprised my mother was calm and just signed the forms....
