Uk. General Election - Any Thoughts Or Views?

as you've not done anything to help change it.

Totally agreed, however my singular vote is like a single tear, a single drop of water in the ocean, insignificant. My voice was stiffled as a child and I was beaten back into submission as a result.

Voting for me in a general election is comparable to voting for which bully should run the school playground. Until transparancey and equality are shown in the election process I shall be abstaining my vote.

Power breads power at the end of the day. Absolute power corrupts.

What Laurie???

You feel the government doesn't support you or its veterans and your solution is to not vote? Oh yeah I can see how making it easier for them to disregard you totally teaches them a lesson. Oh yeah they will totally become more transparent and ethical if we do absolutely nothing. They will totally just change on their own. I mean why would they want to keep the system that's to their benefit when they could just change?

In the 2010 general election:
10.7 million voted Torries
8.6million Labour
6.8million Lib Dems
15.9million non-voters

If everyone who thinks their vote doesn't count actually voted they could make the majority decision.

You have no idea how hard I had to work to get the right to vote in the UK (I'm not from the EU). And your just not going to use yours! You have officially lost the right to moan about the government.

Dear Moonbeam.

I was born into this Society where Politicians are corrupt and their actions are tantamount to abuse of the masses. I will stand my ground on this point and decline to cast my vote as it means nothing in the grand scheme of anything.

My time on this earth will be brief and short lived compared to the future.

I hear what you say about having to fight to have the right to vote here in the UK and praise you in your fight to gain that vote.

Laurie

Dear Laurie,

Most people are born into places where governments and politicians abuse the masses. It is not restricted to the UK.

My point is if you ever want that to change for yourself and your children and the futuee, then maybe you should try voting and being more active in change. Because its not going to happen without an incentive to. And not voting is a feeble incentive.

And no you don't. If you had any idea the kind of grief and struggle immigrants in a country go through to try and get the right to a voice (which is only getting worse), you wouldn't so easily cast yours aside.

Feel free to stand your ground. But I am going to stand mine that if you don't vote, you have no right to moan about current or future issues in the government (including things like cuts to funding/resources to NHS mental health services because you know that's affected by the government in power).

I had no choice being born into a life of pain and suffering. Successive UK governments have beaten me down and damn near destroyed everything I hope and dream could or should be achieved.

I simply reiterate my previous comments in that my single vote is no more than a single tear or a single drop of water in an endless Ocean of pain. I do chose to stand on my own two feet and I shall. I stand for freedom and the beaten man. Not the fat cat's who line their pockets on other peoples misery. And yes I do understand how hard achieving one's life goals can be.

Having been down-trodden all my life by adversity and abuse. I am in a position to not be abused now so I chose not to be. No more shall Iface this kind of destructive influence on my mind.

My votes have been cast.

I personally think it's really important to use your vote, whether you agree with the system or not. It's the only system we have, so why not use it? Everyone's vote is a single drop in the ocean. It's not as if certain people are given the privilege of more than one vote. I don't really understand how having a right to vote is comparable to being abused. But each to their own and all that.

I am not comparing the right to vote as being tantamount to being abused. It is the abuse of power afforded by said duly elected politicians to themselves that I refer to. We live in a corrupt society whereby we are constantly and continuously abused as either a direct or indirect effect of those in Power.

At the end of the day we all have a birth given right to chose wether to vote or not. I shall be abstaining, I do not judge anyone for their decision to vote or not to vote. I see it as a simple choise.

Well my vote has been cast. I don't think I will sway the overall decision on who gets the seat for my consituency because it's not a marginal seat and I think in general, people where I live are happy to keep things as they are. Nobody really wants to rock the boat, or at least, not enough people want to rock it. So I suppose you could say that my vote has been wasted. But I voted for who I want anyway, because even if it doesn't change the overall outcome, at least I can say that I supported the person/party I most agree with. Personally, I feel that thinking 'oh sod it, it won't make a difference anyway' is the only certain way of ensuring that your views 100% will not make a difference.

I think that is the problem, we all think that our votes don't count, and we might worry that we waste a vote. But that is also what causes apathy, and stops millions of people from voting. But none of necessarily know what what others are thinking or how they will vote. If everyone voted, then that could make real differences. And even if you think you might be voting for the best bully out of a bunch of bullies, or liars, or whatever you think. Surely having your say is hugely important?
