I agree in essence that if everyone voted then change could happen, however I also believe that if everyone abstained from voting then the masses would be heard aloud.

Vive la Revolution :)

But you'll never get everyone to abstain. The system is flawed but it helps very few very specific people and they will never stop voting to keep themselves in power.

I respect your right to choose not to vote. Its not democracy if its mandatory. But I don't agree with your reasoning.

Also the idea of a vote wasted isn't entirely true (unless you don't vote). If you vote for one party (say the greens) and they don't get in for your area. You are still adding to the stats for the party. Which may sway others in the future who liked that party but didn't want to "waste" a vote. And others unhappy with their current party (or lack of) may see the rise in popularity of the party and give them and their policies a second look. It also encourages candidates of that party to continue running. I imagine running for office is emotionally stressful and requires a lot of resilience. Even if they don't get in. Seeing an increase of even 3% of voters in favour of their party will show their campaigning has worked.

Until they stop holding the general populous at bay and actually do what they promise, I see no point in voting what-so-ever. I also totally respect your views and standpoint on this matter.

One thing I would like to throw into the mix though is this simple fact.

ALL wars are driven by one of 2 factors. Religion or Politics.

I agree entirely with why wars are fought.

But I counter with. Wars are waged by politicians. Wars are fought by soldiers. Which are predominantly really awesome members of the populous the politicians hold at bay.

Shouldn't the masses band together and vote to change the politicians? They don't hold up their end of the deal we replace them with new ones and don't let the old liars back in. Or should some vote and some not in a hodge podge of hegemony?

Now I am not that well Edumacated @moonbeam and I certaintly have not the forggiest of idea's what on earth Hegemony means.

Ah! I understand now, Hegemoney is the more financially secure halfwit brother of Hagred from the Harry Potter movies. DOH

I am not the complaining type. I stand by my personal convictions.

I have just had an interesting internet discussion with my 15 year old nephew. He was advising the world to vote for the man whose name rhymes with garage. I questioned his wisdom. He replied 'that, Aunty Lucy is what you call sarcasm' . I was thoroughly impressed - bearing in mind he is autistic!!! I did not think he understood such nuances, but clearly his education is doing him well.

Yes, I've been up all night, watching the slow motion demolition. Bye, bye what was left of the NHS, social services, working age benefits.
