Unhealthy Church Part 2: Am I A Divisive Person?

God created the universe. Right now that explanation is as good as we will ever find. In my mind God and the universe are parts of the same entity. This is especially obvious when you work in the field of quantum mechanics. There it is entirely possible and proven that anything in this universe can in some ways affect things elsewhere in the universe with zero time delay. Time is not a factor in certain areas. Science was created by us in an attempt to understand this universe. We will never fully understand it, it is far beyond our comprehension. That also is not debatable.

Quote of Albert Einstein:
My religiosity consists in a humble admiration of the infinitely superior spirit that reveals itself in the little that we, with our weak and transitory understanding, can comprehend of reality. Morality is of the highest importance -- but for us, not for God.

I can be happy in both worlds. I never even noticed that science conflicts with spirituality. They are not mutually exclusive really. Actually, there's a heck of a lot of faith in science! Unless you are repeating all of the experiments in all of your references multiple times. I don't think that you'll get a grant though.

Yeah, good luck with that one. The one sure way of making a name for yourself is to duplicate a famous study because they always turn out differently. (Hmmm...that gives me an idea!)

Well, I keep it out of the writing of course...on a personal level tho.

I think that my bigger problem was being trained as a scientist but thinking like an engineer. I like to do stuff with the facts.

Yep, that's me too. I will be heading back to school later this year to see if I can convince them to give me a master's in Engineering. Science is what I have studied since I stuck some needle nose pliers into a power socket at the age of three. I and the reverend at the church I attend both have a rather different outlook on the nature of God. I am certain He is in some way directly dealing with quantum mechanics at a level we can never understand. In fact, I think it was Feynman that once said "Don't try to understand Quantum Mechanics, you simply must believe it".
