Some of my conversations are too personal for a group chat, that is the problem.

And smaller private groups may become an option for you. Lets see how it goes.

Honestly - PCs had more risk and problems than benefits, for the forum population as a whole. I know that for many of you, that wasn't your experience - and that's why it's hard to understand why they would have been taken away. But when there were problems, the problems were big. I hate to say it, but consider yourself fortunate you didn't land in the middle of one of those.

I'm not trying to jump on your back, specifically. Also, thank you for your follow up message - I know you've already added this:

I'm sure you won't be the only member who is taken by surprise by this. I hope others who come along can read these messages and get some useful info from them.

@joeylittle - thank you for your responses. The last thing I want anyone to think is that I am ungrateful for this site and all you guys do. Believe me, I would not still be in my relationship if it hadn't been for this forum. And for that, I am so incredibly indebted to you all. The knowledge I received here has been a lifeline. It is my intention to donate to the site when I am next able.

I am lucky in my interactions, but can understand how this feature could be problematic. I was just a bit shocked because I only read a few forums here...as a supporter I don't like to intrude elsewhere. I will work something out.

Can you test that in the test forum again please, as I just tested and it worked fine at: Link Removed

Oh, and its also dependent on where a link is posted as to whether the title can be retrieved, ie a private area / private site that requires member access, the title would not be able to be retrieved by the bot grabbing it.

See above link, me linking to the testing area is member only, not public. Only public pages can be retrieved.

I will err on the side of caution with a previous change I made. I had a rule to cache all proxy data, links and images, where it should just be images in essence. Changed from:

*.myptsd.com/proxy.php?*

to

*.myptsd.com/proxy.php?image=*

OK, I tested it in the test area and it posted the same way it did in the SOCIAL forum, not identifying itself.

I just noticed when clicking on the blue "post reply" after typing up a post and trying to post it, that button greys out, as it usually does in the process of it getting posted to the forum, but then turns blue again as if I haven't hit it yet and nothing else on the screen changes (I use a laptop), and there's a longer than usual delay, which makes me want to hit it again, thinking it hasn't gone through for some reason, but if you wait long enough, it actually does post.

I'm just thinking that might cause an influx of double posts.

This may be useful:

Once you load a few pages, every consecutive page should then be super quick. All caches have been wiped due to the changes made, so the first few loads will be slower, then quick there forward.

And if you have not cleared your old cookies and cache from your browser, do that as well, see if it improves things.

Also had this happen a couple hours ago. My post looked like it didn't post. I logged out and then back in on my phone and it had posted.

You should drop your browser cache, as I played around with cache settings yesterday / day before, that did some screwy stuff, then undid it. I had to drop my browsers cache for it to stop doing screwy stuff.
