I have no idea what your income level is, so that might be true. But, in general, the way I understand...

I'm in the income level that trickles down... @hodge in all of the studies about ordinary income being stagnant or decreasing, not one cites the cause as being the top one percent making too much money. That argument is absurd actually. However, recent studies show the causes as being globalization, immigration, skill based set technologies, unions, etc.
I find it concerning that you choose to hide behind the cloak that you can now see republicans for who we are, social darwinists. It's perplexing. I think lumping an entire population together in such a simplistic manner proves that you simply don't understand the complex theories behind economics. It wasn't just an idea Reagan launched. It was supported by decades of research and mathematical evaluation. Alan Greenspan was likely the most brilliant appointee in history and chaired the federal reserve from 1987 to 2006. The day he retired was a loss for this nation. He understood the intricacies of global economics better than any other human being that has walked this earth. He could relate patterns back to the GDP, stock market, knew when we needed to be off the gold standard, and how to adjust inflation rates to cost of living increases...just an absolute brilliant man. I have read all of his books. I assure you that your simplistic view of trickle down theory is off target. The amount of bonus a cfo/CEO makes on Wall Street had NOTHING to do with trickle down economics. Nothing. It exacerbates my brain when someone tries to correlate such an absurdity like you are comparing like kind when in reality those are two drastically separate venues. AND, to make matters worse the almighty Obama did nothing to stop said CEO bonuses... back to the point, I don't appease my conscience with any theory as I write bonus checks that exceed the amount by double of which their base pay rate should exceed. I pay them bc I did well and I couldn't do it without them and I want to share my success. I am not the only one either.
The CEO's you so describe taking large bonuses are not all republicans. That is a global issue that reaches far beyond party lines. Greed sees no blue or red states, only green.

I am no economist, Rumors, so I bow to you. but I do know that most people's income has stagnated or gone way down in relation to rising prices for food, etc. This is why so many uneducated and poor people voted for Trump. They believed him when he said he would bring jobs. Um, hasn't really happened yet. And the reason is, is because he's not looking forward. The good jobs on the horizon are in non-renewable energy, high tech -- things people need a higher education and training to do. And, well, just look at the prices of a college degree. If there is no wealth-sharing in terms of the rich paying their fair share of tax or raising of the minimum wage, I don't know how it gets more just.

The world hates American politics until the world requires money to further their needs then they come to America with their hand out and expect us to write the check... as seen in the Paris accord where the US pays billions and China, Russia, and other "world powers" pay nothing yet are the largest polluters. I welcome the day where we stay out of world politics and keep our money here in the US and take care of our own...quite frankly I am quite sick of my tax dollars going to other entities in other countries to decide how to spend it and who gets it and just today I saw a hungry homeless kid in this country.

Also, I don't know how anyone could honestly call a health care bill that kicks 24 million people off insurance, does away with covering preconditions and throws away Medicaid -- and possibly some affect on Medicare -- anything other than social darwinist.

@scout86, that was awesome and somethung I 100% agree with. This topic is where most of my deadset opinions are. Florida. Live in Florida for a year, if you think wages/price of living isn't a HUGE issue that is only getting worse by the year!

Agreed we need more tech schools and vocational schools. In the 80's/90's they were everywhere then NAFTA and other open border trade agreements came along and really ruined the vocational work force so the schools closed. You can make a pair of socks in Vietnam for a quarter but they cost $4 to make in the US bc we have fair wages and unions. No brainer for the CEO trying to produce good stock margins. Not good for the American worker.
I disagree with adding jobs. Numbers are in and more jobs have been added in the first 110 days than the four quarters of the Obama admin equally. Stock market is at its highest in history. Inflation is going up, which is good bc that means when things cost more people make more money. Inflation has been lingering around 1-1.5 percent for a very long time which makes it impossible for wage earners to earn more. GDP is on the rise...all things economically look strong. Socially however, they suck.

Alan Greenspan may be a genius but he is one of the massive sums of the earth alongside J.P. Morgan. His investments in coal, and trying to bring down green energy and fighting to put a stop to solar power, all the while profiting through falsey inflated electric rate hikes on poorer neighborhoods. There is a reason he is called a robber baron.

@hodge, IA, I believe it is, has no insurence companies currently in ObamaCare. What is Afforable Care Act doing for Iowans?

ObamaCare is quickly dying. I am not saying I agree with what is being drawn up but we NEED to replace ObamaCare. My step mom couldn't get on it and then I saw another poster that I know is on it say "my insurence sucks". Why? Why should it suck? Why give those that cannot get on group insurence, for whatever reason, less? And why does ObamaCare need to touch group insurence? Our PPO got ripped from us, forced on a form of HSA and then it went up, all due to Affordable Care Act (per the company). And my current one at my new job is the exact same way. Why? It is flawed from top to bottom. Why can a State be uncoverable due to no insurence companies in ObamaCare? What about those people in IA?

Good idea, bad bill! HealthCare needed reformed but ObamaCare isn't it.

Again, not saying anything about the new bill. Just saying this one is flawed and is quickly dying as insurence companies pull out and less federal refunds being given. Which is what happened to my step mom. Florida Blue was what they were going to get on but because the government said they would refund X amount to the bill and then that amount got reduced by half, they couldn't take it out on her as they couldn't afford that new amount. But isn't that what ObamaCare was for? AFFORDABLE Care Act? Flawed.

Our economy is not sustainable. The economy is more vulnerable than ever as we have been in a financial symbiotic relationship with other countries. The tides are turning though and we are becoming more dependent on foreign economies and they are finding alternatives to the U.S.

The new jobs bill Trump just signed is utterly disgusting. It doesn't increase jobs, it gives government grants to companies to hired unpaid interns for 4 years. Now supposedly these unpaid interns will be more hireable via the skills and experience they earned during the internship. However why would the company hire them on full time when they can get a $5mill bonus for hiring another batch of unpaid interns and leaving these people who have gone without income for 4 years in the cold.

Also, who can afford 4 years of internship with out pay?
