I don't know if there are any Trump supporters who are still following this thread. If there are, can s...
You know I am and I am. Consider your sources. How many media representatives actually like Trump? 0. How many has Trump called "fake news"? Nearly all of them. Ok, with that considered I ask you to tell me how many of the media actually tell the truth?
Trump makes mistakes. Lots of them. Keep in mind that he's a businessman, not a politician. His tactics are different than what the political world is used to.

how many of the media actually tell the truth?
wish I had a way to actually know the answer to that. My personal best guess is that the majority of them are trying to gather accurate information. A lot of the time, personal opinion comes through in the presentation. I guess I don't really mind that, as long as they seem to be trying to present facts.

With yesterday's events, I heard a good bit of the news conference on the radio. If that was faked, I'm confident that the White House would be tweeting that from the house tops. And what I heard was rather disturbing and hard to explain.

True that! I think his motives are different too. So, do you think you really believes and trusts Putin? Or is that an act? Are we just dosed to trust him? I'd so, based on what? And How long do you give someone the benefit of the doubt? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, when do you have enough evidence to decide it's a duck?

A dislike Trump for all kinds of reasons, most of which have nothing to do with politics. Something he may not appreciate, or maybe he just doesn't care, is that his current job involves leading the American people. To do that, you have to give them an idea where you're going. Where the hell is he going? I'm going to take him at face value and assume he'd prefer a deal with Putin, on Putin's terms, over continued cooperation with our long time allies.

I appreciate your reply!

I typed that yesterday & then had trouble posting it from my phone. I was glad to see it didn't get totally lost. But events have moved on, and now there's been another public statement saying he misspoke. (I'm more than a little skeptical about that.) I heard someone suggest, this morning, that maybe what was going on was Trump, thinking ahead, knowing he won't be president for life, deciding he had more, long term, to gain for Trump Inc by cozying up to Putin than by representing the US. I have no idea. Although he DID comment on the real estate potential in North Korea.

@cactus_jack , you know I'm not going to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I can't. He reminds me too much of people I've met in real life. But, what about you? You're a skeptical type. What would it take to convince you he's conning us all? Hypothetically, I mean. How do you decide? Because, well, everyone has their own angle on this. And we have no way to know what most of these people are really like. We only know the picture they choose to present.

Anyone who thinks he misspoke is delusional. Everything he said prior to that statement leaves no question as to whether or not he misspoke. He is a Putin puppet and that's the long and short of it. Of course he's going to try to backtrack on what he said. Everyone in Congress was having a fit. And no one believes he misspoke. ItsI time to start calling him what he is, a pathological liar. He wouldn't know the thruth if it punched him in the nose.

Yes, he is a traitor and I am really scared the he wants to let some of our people be interrogated by Putin. I do not know how he can legally get away with forcing that to happen, but just the idea that he is considering it is terrifying. What's next? We know what Russia does in other countries, like the U.K., poisoning and assassinating people who oppose them. What is Trump going to let his BFF get away with here?

Cactus Jack, do you really want any deaths or injuries on your hands? Is Trump really worth that to you?

Scout, let's continue this discussion in private. Some of the garbage people are saying is downright offensive. Talking like that about the crap from the media, and most of what the media has is BS, and you guys are fool enough to listen to them? That's your guy's problem.
I'm not going to listen to your guys' foolishness.

If you want any clarifications on Trump's actions and the meeting with Putin, please go to youtube and search for "White House EXPLOSIVE Press Briefing with Sarah Sanders on President Trump-Putin HISTORIC Summit".

I would like to say..."Mmmmm MMM!" That Sarah Sanders...damn she's good looking! Breaks my heart, totally cool accent, and looking hotter than a $2 pistol!

Wow - this is a pretty sweeping insult. And a good example of how communication breaks down. There's no discussion, no debate following a statement like this. I'd guess, you weren't really aiming for discussion. Personally, I'd rather see the thread make room for discussion/debate.

And honestly, I think this is how folks who are critical of Trump can get themselves into a very weak position - both in terms of discussion, AND in terms of managing one's own anxiety. The language you're using - scared, forcing, terrifying - I know it speaks to how you feel, Hodge, and I don't want to escalate or minimize those feelings. But, I also know that it's easy for politics to feel so overwhelming and out of our own control, that it's easy to spin out into real panic. And then, that panic can be mis-directed into hyperbole.

This is how one goes from discussion to blame, and a kind of blame that is impossible to argue with, let alone have any kind of productive discussion with. I don't think Cactus Jack is standing directly between Trump and disaster/bloodshed.

Look: me personally, I get really gobsmacked by the comedy of errors that is this entire current administration. Did he 'mis-speak'? Sure, because he pretty much always does. Currently, Trump's public record is full of things he's said, then taken back; or said, and then corrected; or said, and stood by, even if they were patently untrue. Somewhere in there are some things I think he's genuinely meant to say, and some things could even be factually accurate. I don't parse all of it, because the pattern has become clear. And the rest of the global leaders appear to have adjusted to it. All this means is: on the global stage, at this point, whenever he opens his mouth he's probably going to say something problematic (at best).

It seems more relevant, right now, to watch everybody other than him. White House staff, congress, judiciary, regional and local campaigns/elections, world leaders and those elections, and the extremists who take action within our society - on both sides. And globally.

I mean, f*ck, there are so many things that are actually relevant right now. And I'm not saying that the Putin/Tump press conference (and the fallout) isn't relevant, or that the actions of the president of the US aren't relevant: I'm saying, they are only part of the puzzle - and to my mind, not always the biggest part.

What's going to matter is how people in power respond. What they do. Actions. I'm far more creeped out by how the rest of the republican power-players reacted. And I remain bothered by the evolving schism in the democrat camps. I have huge problems with things Trump does. - and those things are rarely just him, as the primary actor.

Shit he says, at this point, is pretty unreliable. I don't think he's where to focus, anymore. I'd kind of rather know how the response has been in Russia. Makes me miss @Chava, wherever she is....

I understand @cactus_jack why you are finding some of the replies here upsetting. I agree with @joeylittle response that sometimes language fires up a discussion and can make it feel like like an attack. And it must be hard to be a Trump supporter on this thread where so many folks are so adamantly against him and so few people speak up for Trump.

I don't support Trump but am sincerely curious in understanding the perspective of those who do. I am a bit disappointed that you are going to bring your response to scout to a private discussion. I really wanted to hear what you had to say.

Muttly, ok. I’ll try to put up a response to Scout. And Joey.

joeylittle, others, when I read Milo’s response, Hodge’s response, yeah there is no room for debate. This is a communications problem the Democratic National Convention as a whole has. They go on attack and leave no room for debate, thus verifying, to them and their friends, how right they are when in reality they could never be more wrong.

Then I reflect back on the training I have from years ago when I was an advocate for members of the disabled community. And what I learned there is when people use that form of argumentation, they are confessing (though indirectly) that they already lost the argument. Otherwise they would enjoy a discussion. In my experience with the political community this has been proven time and time again.

And it also shows, from the advocate side, a part of the other parties persona, it’s not really passive-aggressive but more along the lines of Narcisso-Passive-Aggressive. I have seen this in other victim forums that I no longer participate in.

Hodge, there is absolutely nothing to be scared of. Not by Trumpand not by Putin. Period. Trump cannot do anything to you, nor allow Putin to commit any acts against Americans that are in conflict with the United States Constitution.

But Hodge, for you to ask “...do you really want any deaths or injuries on your hands? Is Trump really worth that to you?”, you certainly will not like the answer. Not only “yeah”, but “hell yeah, babydoll!” Yes, I am being fecal about it. Just as you were in asking that. But what I said previously stands, no matter what– the media is lying. And so is Trump. There is nothing that you, I, the Pope, joeylittle or even Anthony can do about it. All it is is information we are getting and it is manipulated for the most emotional effect possible. IOW “Drama Queen Express”. When the elections come up, your vote means nothing. You didn’t know that, did you? The Electorial College decides. Just the way it is.

Scout86, today’s media is not the media I worked in 18-20 years ago, nor what you & I grew up knowing. Now it’s all a matter of who can get the most stink from a pile of dirty laundry.

Contrary to popular belief Sarah Sanders IS the best source of info. And instead of listening to a few seconeds or even a few moments of a presidential speech, listen to the whole thing TWICE. If it’s 45 minutes long, then too bad. Listen to it.

I learned that from an old-school journalist-reporter a few years back. You see these videos on YouTube showing the POTUS saying one thing, supporting the anger and angst of the poster. I saw this a lot with Obama when he was POTUS. Yet that is only a few seconds. Maybe a minute. If anything, it is an outright lie. Because the WHOLE speech can be totally different. Like when the video was going around showing Obama support Islam and the destruction of Christianity in front of the UN. The video had a 15-17 second snip of a 23 minute long speech Obama did before the UN. The entire video was exactly the opposite. Instead Obama was supporting the protection of ALL religions, world wide. Pushing, believe it or not, the American concept of “Freedom of Religion” before the UN. And “Freedom of Religion” is not Constitutionally protected, like you may think. But that is really another discussion for another time.

Yes, Trump does trust Putin. At least he’s trying. And that is important when working with Russians. Extend hope, establish trust, and when the Russians (yes, I said “when”) break the trust, the pie is in their face, not ours. The international community sees this and will side with us. OTOH, if we screw up, the world sees that and the egg is in our face, politically that is. When you are working with another country, you are working with their culture as a whole. Not just person to person.

As for Putin, trust him, but only so much. But remember who he is and where he’s from. He is not here for America. He is here for Russia. He has zero obligation to do anything to benefit America.

Real estate in DPRK is a bad market. Neighbors are absolutely horrible and the Home Owners Associations are a bunch of socialists. LOL!
Humor aside, the hazmat that we don’t want in our communities is common place there. The DPRK government has no care nor concern for anyone’s safety or health.

@cactus_jack and @joeylittle, I owe you and everyone else on this thread an apology. When I wrote that response yesterday I had just come from work and where I tried to have a civil discussion about what transpired in Helsinki. The other people in the discussion all claimed that every news organization that covered the press conference altered what was said in the exact same way. No matter how many different coverages I showed them their answers were the same. That all news organizations are against Trump.

I lashed out here and shouldn't have. I'm sorry for that.

As for watching press conferences, I watch them 3 or 4 times so I can form my decisions on what was really said and not what I think was said. That being said, I stand by my personal opinion that POTUS is not a person that anyone can rely on to be honest. He has too many personal agendas. With that in mind I just don't trust him.
