Using Rain Sounds To Fall Asleep

Its often very noisy where I sleep and I've had to find some noise generators like house fans to cover the din so I'll not concentrate on exterior sounds like jets or loud music. Think the Blues Brothers apartment. Lived by railroad crossing and Fire station as well :roflmao: I'm an idiot. Cheap rent.

I don't care for earplugs as I wake in a disoriented state and like my ears to function at normal rate.

I've found a large number of youtube videos of rain sounds without music that have been effective in relaxing me prior to sleep. Some have thunder so I avoid those. There is the natural sound of the rain hitting the metal roof here and sometimes can not tell if its real or not.

Hope this helps. Going to try ocean sounds as well.

I use wave sounds to fall asleep sometimes when it gets really bad, or this other one called country meadow, it has birds singing and light wind sounds. Both help calm me enough to fall asleep.
Have you tried any sleep hypnosis programming? iTunes has some good Aps & I'm sure you can get them on cd too.
Hope it works for you.

Thanks medic72,

I go to listen to waves when I get migraines and and I like the random noise and shapes they produce. I used to live on North shore of Oahu and would watch waves even though I'm not a surfer. Because rain is the dominant noise in Seattle that is what I've been going for.

I sometimes use the Planet earth series for relaxation prior to sleep to erase the tech world if I'm thinking too much about people prior sleep. I'll look at the hypnosis programming. Thank you

Was going to tell you other day (too shy) that I have a bit of hero worship for you Paramedics hope you don't mind. My last teachers were incredible guys. I've got relatives that were Vietnam medic and Firefighters. You guys and gals have all my respect for doing the toughest job in the world.

Hey! I found that having a fan running provided something for my overactive mind to focus on, but because it covered other small noises which would make me semi alert, it lulled me off to sleep.

Ever wonder why you fall asleep in front of a computer or laptop? It's the fan!
I've also found that finding a high quality recording of a fireplace will send me off to sleep.

Also make sure that your body is hydrated before you go to bed, otherwise you will be restless because you need to drink, and dehydration causes toxins in your body to have a greater effect if not 'diluted' with fluids.

Hope that helps
