"The Beast" - that describes it very well for sure. A non-human force that lies waiting in the shadows. You know it's there at all times, just out of sight and range. I lost 8 months of memory toward the end of my tour due to my stressor. One of the first issues I had to address was gathering the pieces of what I had into something to build on. For years I carried only the invasive vision of a face and nothing else. It was not until a marine sniper challenged me to "put down the tombstone" was I able to gather the pieces and today I know exactly what shut down my memory.

That's for another day - tired, gonna go get some ZZZ's, hitting the backspace key too much.

We went through similar experiences, Ba. Trying to resolve what I did after my friend got shot down was one of the biggest hurdles I've faced. Still don't have it completely worked out. Top that with some really faulty ordinance we dropped on them and you face some heavy specters.

But that's the key, to face them. Not toe to toe. Little at a time.
