Volunteering In Africa

It sounds like it will be an amazing adventure for you. Hopefully it will be as safe as you are expecting it to be. In a place like africa, anything can happen. I've never understood why people decide to offer aid overseas, when their own country has so many problems and needs so much help itself...as the U.S does, but I guess they feel like they are REALLY helping if they are dealing with third world countries. I'm sure you could do just as much, if not more, good work in the U.S, but since you've decided to go I will wish you the best of fortune, safety and a pleasant, life affirming experience.

@ashdawn8287 Have you ever done any volunteering before?

I hope you know the people well that you will be going to Africa with. It's a big change, culture shock and adjusting. And then of course your safety...Do you know which part of Africa you will be going too? It would be great if you can do some reading about the country you are going too.

I have to take a course for academic credit about the community before I go. Yes I know the people. I am like a chameleon. I have volunteered and I have traveled a lot with my grandpa. I know myself and I appreciate the concern. I study global problems soooo yeah. This isn't just a to do thing or some shady thing. It's threw my university.
