Wanting To Break The Isolation Of C-PTSD

Bluecat, I, too, felt like I could have written your post. It sounds like the origin of our PTSD might be very different, but the aftermath sounds very much the same. I've had a really hard time "sticking my neck out there" and letting anyone in to this private little hell. My hubby probably understands best, and there are a few people that know I'm going through a "rough patch", but despite the fact that I truly have wonderful friends, there is no one that truly seems to understand what I'm going through. I can say the word, PTSD, explain what it is, give a brief little synopsis of why I have it, what a flashback is, etc., but it's very, very hard for me to even do that much. I'm afraid of their reactions, afraid I'll be treated differently than before they knew. I don't like feeling weak or dependant, and I'm much more comfortable being the supportER than the supportEE. Which means, than in the midst of a flashback, I can be very much alone in a crowded room.

I've just found this board myself, and I'm hoping to find many of the same things you are. I've also got a COMPLETELY cracked sence of humor, so you won't be the only one ;-). I feel like I've found a good place here. Hope you do too.
