Sufferer Was A Wonderful Life

As soon as my divorce was final....insurance was at an end.
My psychiatrist stopped returning my calls. He gets $100 for
a 15 minute session.
No one mentioned about selling a house or "single" car.
But a person can have no more than $2000 in bank.
Only allowed one car per household.
Why should I dissolve what I have worked hard for?
There is no "good" reason.
Except government in general wants everyone to be needy
for a handout. And those handouts we've all paid into
our entire working lives. It's really a ponzi scheme.
They never really wanted you to live long enough to
reap any reward of what you supported.
Those in key government positions who administer
these funds have gotten rich from them.

What you are referring too seem to be the common limits for Medicaid. They generally don't give people Mediciaid if they have more than 2,000 in the bank or more than one car per adult. There are some ways around some of the limits through waiver systems. It varies from state to state.

I take it your employer doesn't offer health benefits?

It does stink to have to pay out for therapy to heal, and with all your other financial losses, this probably seems like another terribly unfair financial loss to face. At one point, I had to sell my minimal furniture to pay for my bill for private therapy. It felt awful to have to do that.

It wasn't fair, but it was better than being mostly or all dead.

It was an investment in my future.

This forum isn't the establishment. It also isn't face to face contact. It's not helpful for everyone, but you came here for a reason. It can be a place to be heard, ask for suggestions, and practice ways to cope and connect that may help in the world offline too. It's helped a lot of people, including me, do a lot better in life.

One thing that might help is to check out dbt self help dot com. Totally free website with great resources. There are lots of other tools and workbooks
that can really help someone manage and reduce the pain of PTSD. Is it a replacement for quality therapy? No. But that doesn't mean it is always totally useless and it can do a lot of good even without therapy.

Either way, I hope you find what works for you!

Its government guidelines for s.s., medicare, medicaid, food stamps and practically
any government program you can think of.

The way it should have been done? Each individual should have been given an account. (S.S.)
That account would have contributions from only that individual over their working career.
Those contributions from the individual should be made available to that same individual
whenever they are truly needed. Illness, loss of job, retirement etc.

But hey! They didn't ask for common sense when s.s. was created long ago.

The only thing you've actually paid into is social security, as in you must have earned it to redeem it.

There's a reason why it's so darn hard to get-----the government wants to ensure that people are actually disabled before they get it. (Or retired.) SSDI isn't meant to help you when you're down on your luck. It pretty much has 2 purposes------retirement and disability. If you have other struggles you are eligible for other programs but none of them require you to pay in before you can get benefits.

I don't see why people should be able to keep their assets and get free health care. It doesn't work this way. (Why should it? You'd have people making all of their funds non-liquid just so they could milk the system.) It's only fair that if you have assets to pay for things that you need that you liquidate those assets to pay for it. If you rather have your stuff over your health, I guess that's your choice. And until we have free universal health care for all, this is the system we have to work with.

There are options available to you. Are you interested in finding out about those options?

Welcome to the discussions  I trust this place helps you. It's extremely helpful in light of the mass measure of individuals who feel comparative and get it. There is a considerable measure of guidance and backing to be found here :) I hope this astounding group helps you as much as it helped me, understanding all the comparable stories, and taking in a ton along the way. Hugs if you accept

I don't have time to volunteer. I work at night. Need to sleep during the day and do what chore...
You have had terrible things happen to you and I don't think any of us could really find the correct words to console you. I know that bad things happen to good people and I am always surprised that I can still function, despite my PTSD.
I have lost my mom, separated from my abusive husband, face stalkers, and now I am haunted by my abusive father. I have a son that is growing more and more selfish just like his dad.
Perhaps we have to get used to the fact that family is not the only support. I have learned more and more that family members we can not choose, but when we go to "talk" to people in these forums we meet actual people who face the same challenges we do. Often I find these people much more understanding.
Being autistic releases me from the lonely feeling many sufferers experience. As an autistic person I do not have any problems living by myself and I relish time spent with deep thinking, discussions online, and researching interesting subjects. So in my case even though I have PTSD it helps tremendously to also be autistic.

I hope you get the help you deserve and yes you are correct: we can also not rely on those services for the poor: not as long as we work and make money: and that in itself is wrong.
I am ready at any moments notice to take of if the opportunity strikes, freedom can be just around the corner, as soon as I find it I can spontaneously decide for that and that in itself is something that makes me smile.
