Amethist, that is because you have good boundaries and those that manipulate learn quickly they can't do it with people that have boundaries and are assertive in enforcing them.

Hopefully your husband will have his own internal doberman in time. I have a grizzly bear now and it has helped so much in dealing with conflict. I have my boundaries and don't let people cross them or the bear come out. :D

Snaps at anything that gets too near, but if he ends up on his back he is no use to anybody.
