Well This Is A New One For Me

I guess I was thinking that in light of the fact people aren't the best communicators, they were playing it safe by asking instead of assuming

I worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor before I had to "retire". We were all up by but beat up by the whole "evidence based practices" retoric. IMHO if therapists are asking what that phrase means I would be very wary. That is the buzz phrase these days and I would be concerned that they weren't current in their field of work.

I didn't want to worry you. I just wanted you to be informed. The more informed you are the better your ability to choose will be. Going therapist shopping can be a good thing, I tried several before I found one that I could really work with. We've been working together for over 10 years. (That is longer than any of my marriages lasted!)

Technically, couldn't ANYTHING that has "evidence" of working be an "evidence based method"?

Hell, even simple "talk" therapy has "evidence" of working for some, so it's best to define such a vague term.

That's what I thought initially, ScaredofLonely, with this guy, but he ended up calling it "jargon" and he essentially had no time for that new stuff.
I also saw, when I looked again today, in very fine print on one of his web pages, he's a faith-based therapist who uses Jesus to reach people.
As an atheist, I don't think this would work out.

By the way, I love that fish and it s fin. I get such a kick out if it every time
