What’s the point in therapy?

Annalyn78, I don't think it's fair for your psychiatrist to require you to be in therapy in order for him to prescribe you psychiatric medication(s) because, although many people like myself have found psychotherapy to be helpful, therapy, in my opinion, is not for everybody.

He may make different rules for others but he knows my history in detail and knows just drugging myself isn’t going to get the core of anything. It’s frustrating as hell because there are many days I would love to just drug myself and not have to deal with any of it. But he’s right, for me at least. And it keeps me from giving up. If I want something to take the edge off I have to do my part in the hard work.
