What Are Good Cbt For Feeling Dead Inside?

@joeylittle - you're not annoying at all! I live for this stuff these days. :)

Thank you so much for the demonstration of the CBT thought record method. I'm going to add it to my planner as another tool to look at when I feel numb or when I get calmer after doing some of the relaxation methods from DBT. It was an excellent demonstration of how to use it in this particular situation.

You helped a lot. :)

@The Albatross - I dunno if it is chronic. I actually usually swing between extreme moods. That is what I am used to. The only times I am not in an extreme mood are (a) I'm sleepy (but even then it's not a guarantee), (b) I'm in "the zone", like, coding for hours on end in super-high concentration, or (c) "I am dead inside." Emotions don't seem to tire me out to numbness, but sometimes I just hit a dead zone and am not sure what to do.

Also a friend of mine sent me a link to a walking cane site. She's looking for a new cane and thought I'd be interested (I kind of am, my feet are having problems again, and, well, new canes can be shiny, I want one with flames all down the sides). So we're looking at canes

So yeah, um, I don't feel so dead inside any more. :D It's still sticky though—like, the numbness is going to come back at some point, but for right now, um. Yeah.

In case you are curious, the bull penis canes aren't adjustable BUT you can have different tips.
 
Being used to mood swings and dealing with them to balance out is two distinctly different things. Ya want more of the same? Wait for the next swing... there will be one. Ya want to balance out? Endeavor to learn and do something different. Bull penis canes not being what I had in mind though.
 
Check out mindfulness techniques - it's all about being present here and now, connected to this moment, and feeling it, instead of being numb which is a way to disconnect from it.

You can even be mindful with learning about the bull penis. lol :)
 
Much of the time I believe that nothing matters as well, or that nothing that I do matters. Evidence is the same list as joeylittle posted basically. I feel really stuck where I live. I want to move and think that if I did, I would get out of this rut thinking. Then I am afraid that what if I moved and still felt this way, then I would feel like I failed at one more thing in life.
