What Are You Grateful For Today?

I am again grateful for the month of January.

The first month in this new year and although it had its ups and downs, with it being the month my mother died and thinking about my brother who died one year ago on the 23rd.

I am still learning so much about myself and others, so here comes the month of February!

Lessons from animals that I often translate into my own life....for example...each and every time the dog I often watch gets up from sitting or sleeping, she stretches and simply shakes everything off, from head to toe.

She only eats small amounts of limited kinds of nurturing food a few times a day, even when the bowl stays out all day and has food in it, and maintains a fairly regular bathroom routine not long after each meal.

She drinks water much more often than she eats solid food.

The only time "potty time" becomes problematic is when she's given human table scraps and not-so-healthy "treats".

She, too, comes to life in a much more energetic way as soon as we head out into nature to explore.

She seems much more content and calm after play time, especially if there are tennis balls involved.

So many humans remain convinced that we're the more intelligent species and that the only place we should be seeking answers for all of our ills and such is from other humans who have more formal education than we do....but I see/feel differently.

Grateful for what I've learned and for the chance to share space with such cute and cuddly teachers who help refresh my memory of the most important and often most basic things in life.
