What are you having for dinner? (wanna share your recipe?)

Broccoli with cheese 🥦 🧀

Microwave about 55g (florets from one whole) at 333 (varies by power but I think the one I used is at least 1000-1200 watts) and I just put 333 and Go!

Grab a handful of shredded cheese and just throw it on there, surprisingly it's just the right amount of saltiness.

Eat with a fork. It's actually very easy to grab the cheese bits with it.

Was in Kentucky for some pony shows with the grand daughter and the rest of the family, i was the chief cook and sometimes bottle washer, this went over so well and was delish. I did not bake the salmon on top of the veg only because i have a thing about leftover fish….there should never be any, lol, but I knew we would repurpose leftover veg a couple of nights later. The kids and grands loved this: Puttanesca fish tray bake

And so this is the base recipe for the shrimp I served with leftover veggies from the salmon. I had no citrus left as we were leaving in a day or so, I subbed in some white wine and a splash or two of white wine vinegar as the white wine was not particularly dry or acidic. I had some leftover parmesan that was dumped in as well making a smooth creamy sauce. There was only 3 of us for dinner that night, we killed the rest of the veggies and a two pound bag of shrimp: Simple Garlic Shrimp

Interesting that when I copy the website to give credit, the website is no longer part of the paste, but it does show up when you click on the recipe. The salmon is from Recipe Tin Eats, the shrimp from Chef John at All Recipes. I love that guy, he has his short recipe videos at Food Wishes on you tube. He taught me all I know about deboning a whole turkey, which I happily do now anytime it is my turn to host a turkey holiday.

Does anyone know, if I put in less sugar will the recipe still work?

Your texture may be affected depending on how much you decide to knock out. Sugar does more than sweeten, it interacts with your other ingredients. Maybe try it first as written, then decide if you like it enough to decrease the sugar in the subsequent batch and chance the change in texture. Some recipes are more forgiving than others.

Yeah I'm pretty new to baking, but sure I heard it's like alchemy and you can't mess with certain elements of recipes.

I made the recipe as listed yesterday. The cookies are delicious. I tend to prefer things a bit less sweet though. Could try cutting a little bit next time.

I would personally try a less sweet form, of an equally bulky sugar. Like maple sugar. Or turbinado/muscavado/brown sugar. The BULK is still there, but the sweetness is lowered.

Or skip the salt. As salt increases the sweetness / a pinch of salt is usually added to heighten sweetness, in baked goods.

Or use applesauce, instead of eggs, to bind. (Using flax works better as a binding agent, but doesn’t affect the sweetness). You’d think, all the sweet of APPLESAUCE would increase sweetness, but it doesn’t, when used in place of eggs… it increases the savoury. Yep. Alchemy. One thing, becomes something else, added to other things. It’s like, when cooking, onions add sweet instead of acrid/acid/etc. Sooooooo many different sugars in onions, have no choice, when added to heat. Add onions? Add sweet. UNLESS you add “sweet onions” which cook out acrid & acid. Regular cry me a river onions add sweet, sweet onions algemate to
