What Are You Thankful For?

I am thankful that I can hear. Yesterday, I was home after husband and kids went out to the mall and Aunt, after stopping by for coffee, had left.

I put my dog on his leash and stepped forward out the front door when I heard the strangest sound. It sound like a blast of powerful air or the sound from a fire-extinguisher blast and it seemed too loud to be coming from anywhere outside the home.

I doubted myself and my hearing and almost just kept going, but instead I turned around just to take a brief look at what it might have possibly been. I took the corner into a room and there on a long narrow table was our video camera, plugged in, and with a flame a few inches above it, the defective battery burning and melting and smoke having well started filling that room. And, there was this lace curtain hanging right in the proximity of where this had suddenly popped, lit up and occurred.

So again, I am thankful for my hearing, and for checking things out, and for not continuing on to go take the dog out for a walk.

James you just brightened my evening.

Oh' and Thank you, and I'm glad that I caught it too. My husband and kids were very pleased with me as well.

Thank you James. And, thank you Junebug.

I am thankful for the Asian Buffet near my home. I walk in and the mixed scent of sweet meats, fish and foreign greens waft through me. As I approach the first row of delectables, my eyes gaze upon the steaming shrimp fried rice and the teriyaki noodles which I eagerly add to my plate making a nice base for the rest that will be added to my feast.
As I continue on I add some garlic and ginger greens and then some glazed yangzte pork to the growing platform in my hands.

I walk to the next row of the buffet and hesitate as I ponder if the plate could hold more, I look back at the dim sum and the baked oysters and decide that there is room for more. After that I grab some bacon wrapped shrimp and some potstickers to an already overflowing plate that holds my piece of the overall banquet, I head to my favorite booth in the house.

I smile as I elegantly pick up the fork with my hand and dive right into the mono-sodium gluconate laiden goodness that is my dinner. The sweet and salty goodness fills my face as I chew the delicious, perfectly cooked, moist pork. The rest of the plate of course does not disappoint. If I am brave I might get a little ice cream or a piece or 2 of sushi or roll, I will then tip the lovely gal who likes to make sure my soft drink is bottomless during my stay.

I will then waddle out of the establishment, groaning from both the satisfying meal and the discomfort of being so full.

It is probably good that I don't go here all the time, or I would be huge.

I am thankful for my cat... his purring and kisses when I'm sad. He's the most grounding thing I have when I am having a flashback. I love him SO MUCH... I swear I think he's part human!!!

I have four and they are my grounding as well. All though i'm sure they have trained me and believe that I am here to serve them as much as they give to me but It is truly amazing to me that they know when I need them.

I am so thankful for my boys having summer vacation!
I am thankful that my neighbor is gone with her family this week-end so it's quiet and only me and the boys.
I am thankful that I have enough money to pay my bills with some left over.
I am thankful for audio books.
