What Costs You A Spoon?

Or have I just gotten tangled up in tasks that aren't really mine to deal with?
yep
Am I on a wrong course in my life and should I correct it to one that uses up less spoons?
yep
Maybe thinking about this more "deeply" will help..
yep.

My doc asked me one day "Freida, have you ever noticed that lazy people don't get fibro? All of my fibro patients were super overachievers who ran 90 to nothing all day long, solving the worlds problems. Until the day came when they had nothing left to give. But they kept trying, because it was who they were. Until they dug themselves a hole they couldn't climb out of. Then they had to ask themselves -- was it worth it?"

I rearranged my spoons and now I volunteer at the stables and that has changed my life, even though it takes very few spoons. Because the time I spend is time that makes MY life better, instead of solving problems for everyone else. And because my life is better, I'm better at helping in a new way.

There's two reasons I lose spoons. I have chronic Lyme disease. Also, obviously PTSD. There is a whole battle in the Lyme community as to whether it can be chronic or not. If I have to deal with this, at least half my spoons are gone right there.
Then if there are loud noises, people talking in the hallways of the building I live in, an unexpected knock on my door, or a similar phone call, etc., I have lost more spoons to the extent that I need a nap. If I sleep too long though, I run the risk of not getting enough sleep that night.

**The fire alarm just went off in our building. There go all my spoons. I need a nap.
