What Do You For Your Pain?

Alright guys, it's been a little since I have posted anything. I recently was given a CT scan and it showed a malformation of my cerebellum, MRI showed nothing and another CT after showed malformation again.

My posting this is I have headaches 24/7 regardless of what I'm doing I always have them. On top of that I have severe back issues as most of us do and lately they have been taking me off my pain needs slowly. I do not mind if they want to slow me down or stop me but at the same time the VA has nothing in place to help fix the issues, one doctor told me surgery another wants me to do PT for the 3rd time.

What are ways you guys handle your pain? If you have degenerative discs, nerve damage, legs, hands, feet going numb. What do you do to help with the pain besides medicine? I'm 26 did 6 years as a combat engineer with 1 combat tour to Afghanistan, 2-3 months after coming home I fell apart my body hasn't been the same since. Looking for some advice, tips and just what you guys do to help through the days.

Fitz

Hey Fitz,

I'm on 30mg codeine/500 paracetamol, 200mg Tramadol Hydrochloride (slow release), 300mg Lyrica (pregabalin). This is morning and night. These meds are highly addictive so try and avoid I guess. I've had RF Ablation on three disc levels and had this procedure done three times. First time was really good and a lot of relief, like I was new again, so went back again because it only lasts up to 12 months, sometimes more. Second time ok but less effective and lasted approx 8mths. Third time unlucky. Damaged nerves and more pain from scaring etc and just f*cked me up. So my opinion, don't have this procedure. Well more than once anyway as it's just masking the problem and causes more harm than good. I have constant numbness in my right thigh when standing, driving and when lying on my back. I don't know the answer to resolving this but if anyone here does then great! I don't have the issues you mention with headaches so can't help there mate. With all the meds I'm taking I still find it necessary to drink alcohol every night. Not ideal but I knock myself out and sleep well. Reading this back to myself I'm not sure if I've helped you or advised you what not to do! Try to stay positive and if all else fails try to draw on your family or those around you to keep your spirits up! Laughter is the best medicine is a very accurate statement!
