What Do You Love About Autumn?

It starts making itself known around the beginning of September here.

I see that we are experiencing an early fall, something I was not expecting. I am still acclimating living off the mountain and the different seasons. In the mountains we had all four short seasons. But it seemed that winter was the longest.

This is the first year that we did not have heat waves in September. I love being cozy, and that is what I usually love about the fall. I do miss having our first fires in the old wood stove though. It always use to mark the beginning of autumn.

Coming back to the UK after two weeks out of the country and seeing how the colours in the trees and the hedgerows have changed. The journey home on the train was even more special as the sun began to fall and the fields took on a golden glow. Sunlight, shining through the leaves making everything seem warm and alive. Even the drop in temperature making me think of snuggly jumpers and firelight.

I love the fall, It has a lot of good memories for me. I am now making new ones, today I will use my slow cooker for a meal tonight and I got a new blanket to keep me warm on the now chilly mornings of Autumn. I love the colors and the hot chocolate.

I went to the store and saw all the mum plants out with all the pumpkins and decided to plant a beautiful white mum plant in front of my house to replace all the summer flowers that I had dug up.

It was like a change of seasons for my flowers too, so will have my mum plant and pumpkins sitting in front of my house now!

The fact that the sun still shines and the beautiful fall weather.

Fall here is rain everyday. Rain and more Rain. It makes the backyard a mudslide. It means boots with pictures of chickens on them, lined raincoats, tarps for the chicken coops that have open sides. It is warm fires.

I love drinking cider, the colors of the leaves, when the sun shines through the red and gold and orange, and a breeze blows with the scent of autumn leaves and hay bales, campfires with plenty of warm blankets, or sitting in the house by the fire with warm cider. the crispness in the air :)
