I guess it is hard to define 'recovery' if something is incurable. In that regard one needs to have a different mindset. I don't feel that enthralled with 'managed' or 'controlled', but certainly unmanaged or uncontroled is disastrous. Maybe managed-&-happiness- &-peace-is-still-possible sounds better?
ETA, I'm trying to 'think' of positive emotions, feel it, & go from there. It seems to work better for me than the other way around, of changing the thoughts first. Sort of 'act as if', but more like 'feel as if', followed by 'do as if'.
