What Flies Over Your Home ???

We get a regular service of a sea plane fly over us. Small and quiet.

Then just to surprise us we get military aircraft on training exercises. Low and very loud, really make you jump regardless of PTSD! They fly as low to the lochs as they can, sometimes it looks as if they'll touch the water.

We had this in Wales last week. Not good for a hypervigilant me looking for danger everywhere I was WTF is that. One more thing to worry about when looking for a holiday destination, we were only driving through. If I had to stay I would be even worse.

Yesterday we had 4 fighter jets, grouped together, speed overhead and flying lower then I'd expect. Oh' what an awesome view of these. Never seen anything like that before, nor likely to again.

Lots and lots of segulls and other birds around here; sometimes a blimp flies overhead but yesterday was a treat.

I'd forgotten the seaplanes. We get those at the lake, then they go tie up at some dock across the lake like a regular motorboat for awhile, take off again later. Love watching that. I'd give a lot to see one over a loch. My son is out running tests on a loch right now, AI stuff, underwater robotics. Funny if that plane was from their lot.

Thanks for posting on all these, esp historical ones. Hope there are more, but just being greedy now.

Several months ago I was sat on the sofa watching the TV. The Tv is in the corners by the window that looks over my garden, but from the sofa, pretty much all you can see is sky, but anything that flies by the window catches my eye.

I nearly had a heart attack when an Airbus A380 (biggest passenger plane in the world!), flew slowly and very low over the back garden. I swear the room got dark it was that close, and it took me several seconds for my brain to realise what I was seeing, and to register that it was indeed flying and not falling from the sky. If you've ever been on an A380, or seen one close up, you'll know just how massive they are!!

The Airbus factory, where they make the wings for the A380, is just a mile or so from my house, so I guess they were doing some sort of fly past thing, so the manufactures could get a close up view of their handiwork in action!! Scared the crap out of me though!! :poop:

we routinely get large groups of hot air balloons flying over our home early in the morning. My daughter loves to watch them!
We also get a lot of hot air balloons. I love watching the mass ascents from the local balloon fiesta every August, when you get to see all the weird and wonderful different shapes.

I live close withing the crash zone of a navy base, we get fly overs all the time. Sometimes they are just flying in circles.
It's pretty annoying but you get used to it.

Fire fighting C-130's flying near my home. I had a fire come to within 1 mile of my home. Fire retardant is hard to wash off a house. But I am glad the home was still there when I was allowed back.
That Spitfire is a mk 9 model. It has the bubble glass canopy and the cowl show the bump for the supercharger they fitted to the later model Supermarine Spitfires. Thats a really pretty plane! I love the sound of radial motors but that inline rolls royce 12 has to be a screamer!

Helicopters. Usually police on surveillance during the night, it goes round & round for hours. Also emergency services landing at the nearby hospital, they do such a wonderful job.

These days... nothing, thank goodness. Back in Townsville years ago, constant military aircraft flying on the rooftops across the city.
